“It’s the things I wouldn’t normally share and would keep to myself,” Faye Toogood says, describing her upcoming installation at Stockholm Furniture Fair. “It’s about the process of creativity, which is something that is not always talked about in design.” Faye Toogood, who is the guest of honour for Stockholm Furniture Fair 2025, wants her installation to feel more like a personal sketchbook than a retrospective. Instead of presenting her celebrated finished designs, Toogood will explore the creative process behind her work, exhibiting drawings, maquettes and development work from her personal archive. Toogood’s studio has long championed craft and localised production, and her installation, which is named Manufracture, aims to open up questions around how and why we manufacture and consume design. By presenting characterful early drafts of her designs, Toogood hopes to emphasise the care and individuality creative practitioners bring to the industry, which can’t be replaced by technology. End of march, I had the privilege of participating in an exceptional workshop held at SWISS KRONO Group Design Station. This event was expertly led by Prof. Timo Rieke from the #Visual Haptics Lab and IIT, focusing on the nuanced implications of the color "white" within the interior sector, guided by the broader theory of colors.   A quote from the workshop continues to resonate with me: "color is content and not paint." This perspective encourages a profound reevaluation of color's role in design. Instead of ”just choosing” a color (e.g. white) to make a place look good, it's about what the color means and how it makes a space feel real and authentic. Even a color like white has so many facets that can trigger completely different associations in the right combination.   Throughout the workshop, it became evident that the relationship between color and finish is crucial. The #ShellChair is a true reminder of Hans J. Wegner’s belief that a chair should always be comfortable, have no back side and should be beautiful from all sides and angles. We have taken the liberty to add 4 - 5 shots of the product for you to explore the great depths which the designer went to in creating his master pieces. The design was first unveiled in 1963, and you may say like some of Hans J. Wegner's other designs arrived a little too early. Even though many ciritics loved the contemporary look, the response from the market was not positive. It wasn't until 1998 when CARL HANSEN & SØN relaunched the design - that the market reacted positively to its futuristic shape and style. While doing Shell Chair, Wenger did the following .. * Winged like design gives the chair a floating lightness together with its curved backrest.
