The F-35B 25mm GAU-22/A cannon static fire test is absolutely stunning. The GAU-22/A is a 25mm four-barrel Gatling-type rotary cannon developed by General Dynamics for use on the F-35 Lightning II. This advanced cannon is an evolution of the earlier GAU-12/U Equalizer, sharing a similar mechanism but optimized for a higher rate of fire and greater reliability. It utilizes a linkless ammunition feed system, reducing the weight and complexity compared to traditional belt-fed systems. The GAU-22/A boasts a rate of fire of around 3,300 rounds per minute and designed to fire a variety of 25mm projectiles, including high-explosive incendiary (HEI) and armor-piercing (AP) rounds.

Colt Canada's EAGLE is a single-shot, side-loading, direct-fire grenade launcher that incorporates a double-action trigger and features an ambidextrous barrel and controls. The double-action trigger offers a mechanism that enables the operator to safely re-strike a misfired cartridge without the need to manually open the breech and re-cock the firing mechanism. The EAGLE is able to fire all 40x46mm Low Velocity ammunition. The launcher can be quickly mounted on any weapon (C8/M4, C7/M16 series) that provides a bottom MIL-STD mounting rail with a recoil lug. The EAGLE side-loading launcher is uniquely ambidextrous. The operator can easily reconfigure the side-opening feed, sight mounting, and sling attachment to either the left or right side, without any special tools. The GBU-57 is a massive bunker-busting bomb, primarily deployed by B-2 Spirit stealth bombers. Its substantial size and weight grant it exceptional penetration capabilities, allowing it to burrow through up to 200 feet of reinforced concrete or soil. Crafted from a specialized high-strength steel alloy, the bomb's kinetic energy upon impact, coupled with its precision guidance system, ensures accurate delivery and deep penetration. On detonation, it creates a mini-earthquake effect, effectively neutralizing the target. These characteristics make the GBU-57 an ideal weapon for eliminating deeply buried command centers, bunkers, and other strategic targets. However, its immense size limits the number of bombs that can be carried by a single aircraft. #aitelly #bunkerbuster #GBU57

With the FN® M2HB-QCB Mk2 FN Herstal introduces the latest configuration of its iconic Browning .50 calibre (12.7x99mm) heavy machine gun. It includes several upgrades that improve maintainability and operational effectiveness: ◾ The left handle is ready to take an integrated FN SmartCore® shot counter. This allows more efficient and cost-effective preventive maintenance, which improves weapon reliability and availability, reduces life cycle costs and extends operational life. ◾ The barrel is ready to take an effective flash suppressor. This increases user/platform survivability by reducing firing signature, and avoids degrading visibility through light intensifying or thermal night vision devices due to muzzle flash. ◾ A tri-rail assembly that provides a stable and ergonomic interface for optics, lasers and other accessories is available as an option. These upgrades can be retrofitted to the large number of earlier-configuration in-service weapons, either in the customers’ facilities by their own armourers or by FN technical experts, or in FN Herstal sites. Originally designed by John Moses Browning over a century ago, “Ma Deuce” has the secret to eternal youth: adaptation. #didyouknow #FNProud #Defence #MachineGun

The rise of drones in modern conflicts, particularly in Ukraine, has exposed new vulnerabilities in tank warfare, pushing the evolution of armored vehicles like never before. From kamikaze drones to loitering munitions, these airborne threats have shown that even the most advanced tanks are not impervious to attacks from above. As militaries adapt, we’re seeing a shift towards active protection systems (APS), enhanced mobility, and the integration of anti-drone technologies. Tanks are no longer standalone behemoths; they are part of a larger, networked battlefield, requiring a combined arms approach for success. With drones reshaping the future of ground combat, it's clear that the next generation of armored vehicles will need to be more agile, smarter, and capable of defending against ever-evolving aerial threats or as Dan Magy is their time done? I can only imagine what the next generation of tanks will look like. Or if we even build them. It’s clear the flying IEDs continue to require massive changes in how we build and field armor.
