#ENGAGEMENT: Insurance Development Forum member Swiss RE has released its latest Sustainability Report - and as part of showcasing its key sustainability milestones and achievements for 2023, it has shared work undertaken with the Insurance Development Forum, UNDP, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ)) Tripartite Agreement Programme, plus wider projects with our various Working Groups. Swiss Re’s involvement in our projects in Mexico, Ghana and Nigeria have been invaluable - as has its support of the Uzbekistan pilot project, where agriculture insurance for 17,000 climate-vulnerable smallholder farmers has been developed and implemented. Including updates on how it is helping build societal resilience, the report is an interesting and inspirational read. Hi there! We are continuing with our 3/10 ESG priorities in Real Estate. As an important remainder, ESG is used as a framework to assess how a commercial real-estate portfolio manages risks and opportunities that shifting market and non-market conditions create. Our 3rd priority is Decarbonization and Electrification: Cost of decarbonization. Understanding the cost associated with decarbonization is essential for effective planning and resource allocation. Portfolio-wide Policies and Planning: Implementing portfolio-wide policies ensures a holistic approach to decarbonization and electrification strategies. At Future Energy Partners we advise governments, institutions, investors and businesses on the wide range of ESG issues including alignment of objectives, compensation models, environmental and social risks as well as opportunities, Environmental and social impact assessments and providing bespoke governance capacity building. 𝐁𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍 𝐒𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 ♻ The Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants(BICA) has shown strong support for sustainability, aligning with international financial reporting standards to ensure Botswana stakeholders comply globally. Onneile Nelly Maripe BFP, FCA, represented BICA as a board member and panelist on the topic "Driving Green Finance and Integrated Reporting in Africa: Access for Green Financing for the Private Sector." Onneile emphasized that a sustainability strategy should be embedded in a company's culture at all levels, regardless of size. Once this strategy is in place and near completion, accelerating progress on disclosure standards becomes more manageable. This insightful advice should be implemented by stakeholders in Botswana, irrespective of their company's size. We appreciate BICA for supporting the sustainability movement! #BSWhighlights #sustainability #ESG #botswanasustainabilityweek #media #SessionsintheLoop #ESG #climatechange #sustainableevents #UNGC #EU #botswana #sustainabilityweek #impact #greenloopbw

This September allow me “behave” like a typical LinkedIn influencer and share my most recent certification in ESG Disclosures and Sustainability Integration! Faisal Pyepar, BscTEL, OOH I greet you, sir. This certification has deepened my understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and their critical role in shaping the future of responsible business practices. As you will recall, post the Kiteezi incident I wrote an article on the same. In an era where sustainability is no longer just a buzzword but a vital business imperative, this certification equips me with the tools to contribute meaningfully to the development and implementation of strategies that not only drive profitability but also prioritize ethical considerations and long-term environmental stewardship. As a telecom lawyer, I see immense potential in integrating ESG principles into the telecommunications industry, particularly in how we manage our environmental impact, social impact, foster inclusive growth, and maintain robust governance practices. This knowledge will enable me to advocate more effectively for sustainable practices and to help steer my organization towards a future that is not only financially sound but also socially responsible and environmentally conscious. I am excited to apply what I’ve learned and to continue growing in this critical area. My appreciation to Dennis Kakonge for the nomination (thank you for believing & recognizing my potential), Flavia N Lwanga & manoj murali for their commitment to invest in their employees and ofcourse UGANDA SECURITIES EXCHANGE for organizing the masterclass. Boniface did a great job. #ESG #Sustainability #TelecomLaw #ResponsibleBusiness #ContinuousLearning #FutureOfWork

📚 JUST RELEASED: Unleashing the Catalytic Power of Donor Financing to Achieve SDG 2 🌾💰 According to this new report published by the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development (GDPRD) and the Shamba Centre for Food & Climate, every donor dollar has the potential to mobilize four dollars in commercial finance. 📌When this happens: - Small and medium-sized producers in the agriculture and food sectors will have more financing - Domestic lenders will participate - Markets will deliver affordable borrowing prices 📌How can we make this happen? This report presents the four key findings and recommendations of an enquiry into sustainable finance in agrifood systems conducted in 2023 by the Shamba Centre for Food & Climate for Donor Platform members. The investigation included a series of interviews with donors, philanthropic organizations, public funds and blended capital funds on how to make their funding effective and act as an incentive for achieving SDG 2. The report underscores a growing risk appetite among donors and DFIs. This presents a unique opportunity to transform agrifood development finance. 👉 Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/dzQiCEqv #agrifood #sustainablefinance #donors #DFIs #agriSMEs #blendedfinance #SDG2 #zerohunger #privatesector Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation European Commission Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) USAID KfW Proparco McKinsey & Company Acumen Incofin Investment Management Rabobank Convergence Blended Finance Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Mastercard Foundation OECD Development The World Bank IFC - International Finance Corporation International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) The Rockefeller Foundation EBRD Green Climate Fund Global Environment Facility AFEX Aceli Africa Council on Smallholder Agricultural Finance (CSAF) UNDP Food Systems for the Future Rabobank Contrast Capital Management
