School of Pharmacy is involved in two infrastructure consortia that the Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee within the Research Council of Finland has granted roadmap status to research infrastructures for 2025–2028. Biocenter Finland is a nationwide Life Science research infrastructure organisation. It coordinates 17 technology platforms to cover key technologies that are used to study the most pressing global challenges from loss of biodiversity to severe healthcare challenges. The person in charge at the University of Eastern Finland is Professor Seppo Auriola. The European Infrastructure of Screening Platforms for Chemical Biology EU-OS Finland (EU-OS FI) is a member of the European EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC (EU-OS) research infrastructure consortium. The person in charge at the University of Eastern Finland is Associate Professor Kristiina Huttunen. Congratulations!!

This is a true milestone. There is a nice explainer, and a link to the paper (authored by a 94 yr old!). The significance for biodiversity science is enormous. And, as COP16 approaches, we are increasingly aware we need ALL the tools we can get.

another awesome speaker! I'm really looking forward to Biomolecular Horizons 2024 in Melbourne. As a biophysical chemist working on antifungal and antimicrobial compounds and their interactions with membranes, I feel a bit like fish out of water at Biology conference.... but ComBio is a very inclusive conference...lots of interdisciplinary work like ours! and I get to learn a lot about topics not related to my work that remind me how much I love science in general. #biomolecular #biology #researchconference #research #science

In our latest collaborative research, we delved into the effects of increased substrate concentrations induced phase transition inside the catalytic condensates and its impact on rate of reaction

👩🏽🎓💬 Tune in to Lena Lärms #PhDGraduateTalk on “Imaging spatial and temporal soil water content variations of the soil-plant continuum using ground penetrating radar”. 🌱☀️ Lena’s PhD thesis focused on investigating the soil-plant continuum to map soil heterogeneity, improve field root phenotyping and to identify soil-plant interactions. This contributes to a sustainable agriculture with climate-resilient crops, sustainable soil management and an efficient use of resources. 📍📚 Data collection took place at the two #RhizotronFacilities of the Forschungszentrum Jülich in Selhausen. Therefore, Lena worked with the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), which collects data with high resolution. 🔎💡 The three main research aspects of her thesis were to -    link crosshole GPR and root information, -    understand the GPR signal in terms of root distribution -    and derive soil hydraulic parameters from GPR.
