How do we make decisions as people, as organizations, as countries? The just-ended Evidence to Action Conference, held by International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED) in collaboration with Feed the Future MRR Innovation Lab and co-hosted by ISSER UG, shed light on how to make decisions based on the evidence available (Existing literature). This is an objective and unbiased way of decision making. Evidence-based decision making, as it is called, is applicable in all sectors: the public sector, private sector and sometimes even in our personal lives! #E2A #Evidencebased #Networking Featured in the picture below: Sheila Agyemang Oppong (Ph.D) Fatu Badiane PhD, Miriam Oppong

Another week another conferring of great minds at the 3rd conference of the Swiss #ImplementationScience Network (IMPACT) hosted in Geneva! As little as 14% of research in #healthcare is implemented, which may on average take up to 15 years! At the same time "low-value" practices are in place harming patients as well as the #environment. Implementation science adresses these issues - the Achilles' Heel: jumping to solutions! We need to get to the root cause through diagnostic evaluations of barriers and #ChooseWisely. (De)-implementation may also mean changing habitual #behaviors - a challenge we want to take on to reduce research waste and ensure high quality patient care. Thanks to the University Hospital Basel for supporting this, the Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care (IfIS) for a welcoming and inspiring first week and IMPACT (https://lnkd.in/eAXZn9sz) for a great conference!

🍽 We are excited to introduce the new ERRIN@lunchtime format at #ERRIN! This week started with a discussion on demand-driven innovation approaches for regional #competitiveness. ERRIN@lunchtime sessions offer an informal and interactive exchange of practices and ideas on chosen topics among the ERRIN community. The first event in this new format focused on how demand-driven approaches can increase the impact of innovation on regional competitiveness. The discussion was launched by Jorge Gonzalez Olalla, Director of Ticbiomed, Region of Murcia. Jorge shared information from the work of the PREPARE project which aims to help unlock the potential of innovation adoption and procurement to turn regional needs into business opportunities in the regions of Murcia (ES), Oulu (FI), Skåne (SE), and Bucharest-Ilfov (RU). A free exchange of questions and reflections followed. Thank you everyone for joining! Key takeaways: 🔺 Demand-driven innovation promises to improve the services of public administration while generating business opportunities for companies, as current EU and national instruments that promote the procurement of innovation do not always fit into the realities of EU regions. 🔺 The European project PREPARE is developing policies and instruments to leverage regional funding like ERDF to facilitate the co-creation between demanders and producers of innovation. The regions are interacting with the local ecosystems to design novel policies that promote demand-driven co-creation for the benefit of local public services, SMEs and citizens. 🔺 New opportunities for regions to facilitate taking advantage of demand-driven innovation are coming. Insights and resources created by PREPARE are available on the project website (https://lnkd.in/dKiitsKs) and periodically shared through its newsletter and LinkedIn channel. #ERRINmembers can find the presentation with all information from the meeting here: https://lnkd.in/dwHCccNA
