Proud to share that eBASE Africa will be hosting a #WorldEBHCDay event on 20 October from 10am at Bali District Hospital, Cameroon. As we know, the world is facing a polycrisis that combines challenges from climate change, ecological disasters, political conflicts, economic instability, and pandemics. These crises test the limits of our health systems and institutions, prompting an urgent need for action beyond the healthcare sector. Bali Health District, Bamenda, located in a conflict-affected region, is at the frontlines of these intersecting crises. With a fragile healthcare infrastructure, they face increased pressure to deliver essential services amidst limited resources, security challenges, and the broader impacts of global inflation and environmental degradation. This makes it imperative to rethink how we deliver evidence-based healthcare in such a complex setting. World Evidence Based Health Care Day 2024 presents a unique opportunity to engage with local health professionals, global experts, and stakeholders to co-create actionable strategies that address both the global and local challenges in delivering healthcare in conflict-affected areas like Bali District Hospital.

Overlooked Challenges faced by Physicians in Uganda Whereas physicians are specialized in ensuring the health and wellbeing of their patients they face challenges like: • Limited Resources: Uganda's healthcare system often face resource constraints, making it difficult to implement evidence-based practices that require advanced technology or specialized equipment. • Patient Expectations: Many patients in Uganda have limited health literacy and may expect immediate solutions or interventions, which can conflict with a conservative approach. • Cultural Beliefs: Traditional healing practices and cultural beliefs can sometimes interfere with evidence-based medicine, making it challenging to implement conservative approaches. While the medical field makes strides, it's time to acknowledge the unique and silent challenges faced by conservative practitioners. 🤔 Here is the question: Are we truly supporting our physicians in Uganda? 💬 Share your thoughts on this. #Physicians #Uganda #Healthcare #MedicalEthics #Diversity #Inclusion #worklifebalance #evidencebasedmedicine #patientcenteredcare #medicine

Health system strengthening is nearly impossible without well trained-qualified and excellent clinical focus, hence Seed's focus.
Check out our 2030 Uganda strategy 👉 We're partnering with the Ministry of Health - Uganda to scale up emergency care and reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) services. Strengthen health system resilience ▪ Work with the Ministry of Health on workforce planning to reduce vacancy rates and improve retention. ▪ Develop a climate change framework to integrate impacts into the health system. As Apotheker Health Access Initiative, the #AfyaTek project lead, we’re proud to collaborate with D-tree to strengthen healthcare systems in Tanzania. During his visit hosted by our donor, Fondation Botnar, Riccardo Lampariello, CEO of D-tree, shared exciting updates on the #AfyaTek programme, including its 91% referral success rate and improved treatment accuracy. Together, we’re building stronger healthcare systems for all. #HealthForAll #DigitalHealth #Collaboration
We were thrilled to host Riccardo Lampariello, CEO of D-tree, and Hannah McCarrick Mikidadi, Zanzibar Country Director, at our office! 🌍✨ They shared inspiring successes and key learnings from the Jamii ni Afya and Afya-Tek programmes. ➡️ Jamii ni Afya (Zanzibar) has achieved national scale as one of the world's first government-led digital community health programmes, with 95% of referrals by Community Health Workers successfully reaching health facilities and 86% of women enrolled in Jamii ni Afya delivering in health facilities. ➡️ Afya-Tek (Tanzania) is connecting Community Health Workers healthcare workers, health facilities, and private community drug shops through a digital platform, improving coordination across the primary healthcare system. By doing so, it has achieved a 91% successful referral rate and improved treatment accuracy for pneumonia and diarrhea, setting the foundation for sustained national scale. A huge thank you to the D-tree team for sharing these inspiring milestones and for their continued partnership in advancing healthcare systems. 💙 Apotheker Tanzania D-tree Susanna Hausmann-Muela #HealthForAll #DigitalHealth #FondationBotnar

We were pleased to hear from Vincent Tuioti (regional director Te Manawa Taki) and Tamati Peni (senior partnership manager) from Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora's regional Pacific health team at this month's Pinnacle staff hui. Vincent and Tamati shared relevant population, immunisation and screening data and presented the government’s Pacific health priorities: immunisation, screening, mothers and babies, mental health and wellbeing, oral health, and diabetes. Around 2.1 per cent of patients registered with a Pinnacle network practice are Pacific peoples. Although this may seem a low figure, it isn’t insignificant, and PHOs play a key role if Aotearoa New Zealand hopes to achieve these priorities. Health equity and equality are at the core of Pinnacle’s strategic objectives and are driving forces behind service delivery across the network. Our commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our Māori and Pacific whānau is a key focus when delivering these goals. Recently we created a joint venture with K'aute Pasifika Trust, which will help us to improve access to health for Pasifika, Māori and priority populations – a shared goal. We will continue to work alongside and learn from Pacific providers across Te Manawa Taki – these organisations are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing needs of Pacific families and are best placed to lead. 📷 Aldrin Arguelles (Pinnacle district manager - Waikato), Vincent Tuioti (Te Manawa Taki Pacific health regional director), Justin Butcher (Pinnacle CEO), Rawiri Blundell (Pinnacle general manager, Māori and equity) and Tamati Peni (Te Manawa Taki Pacific health senior partnership manager). #Pacifichealth #healthequity #healthpriorities

Growing up in Abeokuta, the neighbourhood pharmacy was more than a place to pick up medicine; it was a trusted first stop for any health concern. My mum will often say "Go to Precious quickly". While they didn't replace the hospitals for us, knowing that the Pharmacy was close by & had our needs covered was a constant reassurance. And this was not just for my family, this pharmacy was the backbone of my community. They weren't just convenient; they were the first point of healthcare access. In these communities, however, many people walk around unaware that they have Diabetes or High blood pressure. Today, Non-Communicable Diseases, #NCDs account for 27% of deaths annually in Nigeria. Hypertension and diabetes top the list! Lots of myths around the diagnosis of these conditions make it easy for people to remain ignorant. The most important truth however is that #KnowingYournumbers is the first & most important step to helping you make healthier choices & live better. With our network of pharmacies, we are joining forces with the Nigerian Governors Forum and the Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum chaired by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Ekiti State Dr Oyebanji Filani, by providing free blood pressure & diabetes screening in #Ogun state. Special thanks to Dr Marcellina Tomi Coker, The Ogun state HC for your profound leadership and vision for healthcare in Ogun state & Dr Olumuyiwa for your support; as well as other key players like the PHCs, Healthtracka & Mobihealth International, to ensure we screen as many people as possible. If you or your loved one is in Ogun state, visit your nearest location to get screened for free. #PharmacyFirst #KnowYourNumbers #Famasi #HealthcareAccess #microtraction #i3 #WiNFund #Ogun state Famasi Africa
