If we want the Green Deal to work (and we do!), establishing an Industrial Deal is equally essential: industry needs prospects in order to be able to finance the critical innovations needed for the Green Deal. The alternative is that industry goes away which would truly be a lose-lose -lose scenario: no jobs, increasing dependency on other parts of the world AND no global climate improvements. Public-private partnerships are not a new concept. However, their prominence in high-level circular conversations has snowballed in recent months. And not without reason. We know that circular economy requires radical collaboration, maybe more so than any other economic model to date. No single business, government, or sector can by itself accomplish a circular transition. To succeed, businesses, governments and civil society have to work together towards the same goals. 👇 Why public-private partnerships? 1️⃣ They allow the public sector to attract private-sector engagement, intellectual capital and investments to accelerate the deployment of new technologies and innovations. 2️⃣ They add to the value of cross-industry or cross-sectoral collaborations because of the role the public sector plays in encouraging businesses to adopt sustainable practices. 3️⃣ They help to provide businesses with the finances they need, at a risk level that is acceptable, while giving public organisations access to private sector expertise and resources. 4️⃣ Additionally, public-private partnerships can help promote transparency and accountability within businesses. 🆕 #InvestIn | #Navarra will lead the #European strategy of “regional innovation valleys” in #CircularEconomy”. The region will be the coordinator of the consortium of the European project ECIV (European Circular Innovation Valley), an initiative funded with 27 million euros to create an interregional #ecosystem around the Regenerative Economy. Specifically, of this money, Navarra will receive 6.4 million, 50% of which will come from funds provided by the European Commission. “This is an international accolade for our region’s commitment to the development of new solutions based on the #reuse, #recycling and #recovery of #rawmaterials for their reintegration into the value chain of our companies”, said the Regional Minister for Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition, Mikel Irujo Amezaga. #InvestInNavarra 📲 https://lnkd.in/dC_EZQyq
