Small freshwater habitats can be overlooked, despite their importance to wildlife. Ponds, ditches, headwater streams & more support endangered species from Water Vole to Starfruit. It's time to prioritise these habitats as part of efforts to restore nature. In our latest blog, Freshwater Habitats Trust sets out why these habitats should be integrated into Local Nature Recovery Strategies. This would redress long term neglect, & start restoring small freshwaters to their former glory. https://lnkd.in/eETbQtvM

We believe that together, we can create a future where people and wildlife co-exist: ~ When we #GoBetterWithOluokos, for us, it is about relationships with what is wild, about knowing a small part of wild nature and letting it live inside the soul. All animals, big and small, are part of every landscape, and part of the symphony of interactions that create our ecosystems. #GoBetterWithOluokos #sustainabiltyatoluokos #gobetterwitholuokosafrica #oluokossignaturemoments https://lnkd.in/dmhCx3aT

National Parks contain a significant proportion of England and Wales' peat which support important wildlife habitats and species, and plays a vital role in carbon storage. But @Campaign4Parks Health Check Report shows between 70% and 80% of peatlands in the UK are damaged. Urgent action is needed to restore peatlands in our #NationalParks #HealthCheckReport #NatureRecovery #Peatlands #ClimateResilience

Tigers are more than just an icon of wild beauty; they are an essential part of our ecosystem. Tigers are majestic creatures, symbols of strength and beauty, yet they face the harsh reality of extinction. This International Tiger Day, we highlight the urgent need for their protection. With fewer than 4,000 tigers left in the wild, time is running out. Support wildlife conservation efforts, promote sustainable practices, and spread the word about the importance of preserving tiger habitats. Together, we can ensure that future generations will also marvel at the beauty of tigers in the wild. Every effort counts, from spreading awareness to supporting wildlife organizations. Your actions today can ensure that tigers continue to roam freely in their natural environments. Let's unite for tigers. #internationaltigerday #savetigers #wildlifeconservation #tigerprotection #tigerprotection

Way to go Caltrans there are huge possibilities using the existing culverts that are present already with lower cost and significant uptake for wildlife to use these structures.#wildlifeconnectivity #roadecology #reducingroadkill
Caltrans is part of California Wildlife Reconnected! This powerful partnership is uniting public and private efforts to create more wildlife crossings across our state. These lifelines reconnect habitats, allowing wildlife to safely cross our roads and helping to preserve California’s remarkable biodiversity. As part of Governor Gavin Newsom’s bold 30x30 initiative, these crossings are essential for the future of California’s natural treasures. By supporting this initiative, Caltrans is helping to protect the habitats that make California home to so many extraordinary species. 🐾 Stay tuned for more updates on the road trip coming soon! Here is a gentle reminder we need more forest cover; we need more trees. Trees provide us with oxygen, no doubt, and serve as habitats for wildlife. Moreover, they offer numerous additional benefits beyond what I've mentioned.

You may not have seen this type of sign yet as they are a recent development inside parks & open spaces... However you may have seen some grass verges in your local area looking a little overgrown. It's likely to be because of a new scheme to help UK wildlife & reduce pollution. Grass verges can act as wildlife corridors connecting habitats and greenspaces. They not only increase floral diversity but also provide more pollinator habitats, benefitting bees, butterflies, and other invertebrates. The aim is to enhance biodiversity by allowing the verges to grow. https://lnkd.in/enW5cWtj #NoMowZone
