Moms, I see you out there. Conflicted. Excited. Maybe nervous. Maybe you’re counting down the days til school starts. You’re ready for the routine. The freshness and newness of a new school year! 🏫 Or, maybe you’re wishing it would stay summer a little longer. Maybe, you feel like you didn’t enjoy summer as much as you wanted to. You didn’t do all the fun things you wanted like family bike rides to get ice cream. More time in the pool. More time simply hanging out together. 🚲🍦 Or you’re some combination of both. That’s me. I’m ready for the routine. But also wish we could have just a few more weeks. I’ve bought the school supplies, but there’s still plenty of clothes shopping that needs to happen this Fall. And I have a middle schooler this year. It’s a big change for all of us. There are now 2 school drop-offs/pick-ups. 2 school activity calendars to keep track of. I think we’re ready. As long as she can remember her locker combo and easily open it every day, I think she’ll be ok. 🚗 Also, it’s not all on you. It’s not on you to do all the school registration, buy all the supplies, or the new shoes. Get your partner involved. Or your kids. 🎒 And, if you’re not sure how to do that, let’s talk. I have a new group coaching program rolling out in September. It could be just what you need! #strideproductivity #workingmom #workingmomlife #workingmomlifebalance #workingmothers #mompreneur #mompreneurlife #mompreneurlifestyle #fairplayfacilitator #fairplaylife #mentalload #mentalloadofmotherhood #workingmomproblems #workingmomstruggles #backtoschool #backtoschool2024

We often worry when our children spend hours playing- wondering if it's time well spent. But what if play is actually shaping them into the amazing humans they’re destined to be? Let’s be honest: how many times have we nudged our kids toward games just to keep them entertained while we tackle our to-do lists? Yet, play isn’t just about staying busy- it’s where the magic of learning, growing, and connecting begins. Think back to our own childhoods in the 80s and 90s. That first wobbling block tower, the exhilaration of hide-and-seek behind the trees—those moments weren’t just fun; they were foundational. Each tumble of the tower taught us resilience. Every game of tag sharpened our teamwork. Every role in make-believe nurtured our creativity. Through play, children learn patience when things don’t go their way, confidence when they’re the leader, and empathy when they take turns. These moments are more than just games; they’re life lessons disguised as fun. As parents, we hold a unique privilege- to witness and shape this incredible journey. When we join their world of make-believe, cheer them on during a race, or simply allow them the space to play freely, we’re not just creating memories. We’re cultivating skills no classroom can ever fully teach. So, the next time you’re tempted to brush off playtime, stop. See it for what it truly is: a powerful investment in your child’s mind, heart, and future. Whether it’s a messy art project, a board game marathon, or a silly dance-off in the living room, these moments are the ones that matter most. What’s your child’s favorite game? And what incredible skills have you seen them pick up along the way? Let’s celebrate the power of play! #parenting #consciousparenting #mindfulness #linkedin

Fun Group Activities for Children! Yesterday I spoke on the importance of children engaging in social activities with their peers. Today we'll be discussing on some group activities children can engage in when they are together. Helping children develop social skills and teamwork is essential for their growth. Group games and activities are superb ways to achieve this! Here are some fun ideas: 1. Treasure Hunt: Organize a treasure hunt where children work in teams to find hidden items. This activity encourages problem-solving, cooperation, and communication. 2. Relay Races: Simple relay races can be loads of fun. Children learn to support each other and work together towards a common goal. 3. Building Projects: Give kids building blocks or simple materials and ask them to create something together. It fosters creativity, teamwork, and collaborative problem-solving. 4. Drama and Role-Playing Games: We did this a lot growing up. Acting out stories or playing roles in a drama helps children express themselves and understand different perspectives, enhancing empathy and cooperation. 5. Group Puzzles: Working on a large puzzle together teaches kids patience, sharing, and the joy of achieving a goal as a team. Encouraging children to engage in these group activities helps them build important social skills. To help them learn other important life skills, register them in the virtual life skills bootcamp coming up in August. Check comments section for more details about the bootcamp. #teacherapprecationweek is coming up soon! Want to know what to "give" your child's teacher? Here are some tips from Dr. Fay of Love and Logic fame: "Another gift we can give them involves our own parenting. The most wonderful display of our appreciation is to send them students truly ready to be respectful, responsible, and eager to learn. No doubt this gift also benefits our children, who will rise to the top when equipped with such character attributes. In addition to letting our kids hearing our positive comments about their teachers, here is list of a few additional things you can do to help teachers help your kids succeed: - Ensure that they are doing chores without reminders at home, so that they know how to do assignments without reminders at school. - Allow very little time with technology, including video games, texting, surfing the web, watching videos, television, etc. These activities make it more difficult for our children to remain calm and content at school. - Have family meals together, where you enjoy each other and talk about all the things you’ve learned during the day."
