💄 Household and personal care products are central to our daily lives and generate approximately $700 billion in annual revenues. But this is coming at the expense of nature. 🌱 By prioritizing water stewardship, responsible sourcing, behavioural change, nature conservation and circularity practices, the sector could unlock $62 billion per year of additional value by 2030 and ensure it contributes to a nature-positive future. "Nature-Positive: Role of the Household and Personal Care Products Sector" guidance outlines the five priority actions businesses should take to transform practices and value chains and ensure the sector plays its part in halting and reversing nature loss by 2030 - the mission at the heart of the Global Biodiversity Framework: 🔗Read the guidance here: https://lnkd.in/gdiz3JwX The guidance was developed by the World Economic Forum with support from Oliver Wyman as part of a broader collaboration with Business for Nature and the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development. #NowForNature #NaturePositive #COP16 #naturebasedsolutions #climateaction

Environment Day: Time to Action Every June 5th, World Environment Day promotes environmental awareness and action. This year marked a sobering milestone: twelve consecutive months of record-high temperatures. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres urged nations to intensify climate efforts. The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience.” Humanity depends on land. Yet, all over the world, a toxic cocktail of pollution, climate chaos, and biodiversity decimation are turning healthy lands into deserts, and thriving ecosystems into dead zones. To celebrate World Environment Day 2024, six eco-friendly lifestyle changes were highlighted: 1. Reduce Food Waste and Turn Vegetarian: Use vegetable peels as manure and reduce meat consumption to lower emissions and conserve water. Implement sustainable home practices like composting and using energy-efficient appliances. 2. Use Natural Remedies: Opt for herbal teas and meditation instead of pharmaceuticals to reduce environmental impact. 3. Exercise Outdoors: Engage in activities like hiking and yoga to connect with nature and reduce the carbon footprint of indoor gyms. 4. Prefer Walking and Cycling: Walk or cycle for short commutes to reduce air pollution and promote health. 5. Adopt Minimalism: Declutter to reduce stress and environmental impact. 6. Reduce Plastic Use: Choose biodegradable products and reusable bags to minimize plastic waste. These changes support personal well-being and a resilient planet. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reported May 2024 as the warmest May on record, driven by a strong El Niño and human-induced climate change. Guterres emphasized the urgency of climate action, noting the risk of surpassing the 1.5-degree Celsius warming threshold. He called for reducing fossil fuel production, enhancing climate finance, and regulating fossil fuel advertising. World Environment Day highlights our collective responsibility to protect and sustain the environment through individual lifestyle changes and global policies.

🌍 Driving Sustainability: European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) The EUDR is more than just a regulation, it's a crucial step towards a greener future. Here’s why it’s making waves: 1. Fighting Deforestation: EUDR restricts deforestation-linked products from entering the EU market, pushing for sustainable sourcing globally. 2. Climate Champion: Forests absorb carbon. By protecting them, EUDR supports the fight against climate change. 3. Biodiversity Boost: Safeguarding forests means protecting countless species and precious ecosystems. 4. Supply Chain Clarity: EUDR promotes transparency, helping consumers make eco-friendly choices. 5. Economic Shift: It’s a win for businesses focusing on sustainability, driving a shift toward ethical economies. EUDR is setting a global standard, empowering both businesses and consumers to lead the way in environmental stewardship. PS: Not to be confused with EuDR (European Disaster Resilience). 😉 #Sustainability #EUDR #ClimateAction #GreenEconomy #Biodiversity #DeforestationFree #SupplyChain #EthicalBusiness

On World Environment Day, let’s pledge to nurture nature so that our forests grow denser, air gets purer and oceans teem with life, Today let’s wish that humanity lives in harmony with nature to balance the ecosystem and work towards preserving them. Happy Environment Day"......🍀🍁 The World Environment Day is an annual global event observed on June 5. The day encourages awareness and action for environmental protection by the global community...! History and Significance Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Environment Day was first marked on June 5, 1973, during the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. At that time, the theme was 'Only One Earth'. World Environment Day aims to bring together millions of people from across the globe, engaging them in effort to protect and restore Earth. According to the UN, "more than 400 million tonnes of plastic is produced every year worldwide, half of which is designed to be used only once. Of that, less than 10 per cent is recycled. An estimated 19-23 million tonnes end up in lakes, rivers and seas annually. Microplastics find their way into food, water and air. It is estimated that each person on the planet consumes more than 50,000 plastic particles per year –and many more if inhalation is considered." Therefore, to keep global warming in check, we must halve annual greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Without action, exposure to air pollution beyond safe guidelines will increase by 50 per cent within the decade, and plastic waste flowing into aquatic ecosystems will triple by 2040. the situation requires immediate action....!
