Delhi Air Pollution: Supreme Court Urges CAQM to Reassess School Reopenings Amid GRAP IV Measures The Supreme Court has directed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to reevaluate restrictions on physical classes in schools and educational institutions in Delhi-NCR, imposed due to severe air pollution. Here's why this decision matters: Midday Meals Disruption: Many students lose access to crucial midday meals due to school closures. Limited Access to Online Education: A significant number of students lack the electronic devices needed for remote learning. Health Risks at Home vs. School: Most homes lack air purifiers, making it equally hazardous for children to stay at home. The court also emphasized continued enforcement of GRAP IV restrictions, including bans on construction and curbs on polluting vehicles, until a consistent AQI improvement is observed. Authorities have been warned about lapses in enforcement, with show-cause notices on the way. Additionally, states were instructed to use labour cess funds to support construction workers impacted by the restrictions. Immediate action is expected to ensure their subsistence during this challenging period. While the AQI in Delhi has improved slightly to ‘poor’ (281), areas still record readings in the ‘very poor’ category, underlining the persistent air quality crisis. #AirPollution #DelhiNCR #SupremeCourt #CAQM #GRAPIV #Environment #SustainableDevelopment #EducationForAll

Are students truly safe from Delhi’s polluted air while learning from home? Delhi’s air quality continues to make headlines, with the AQI frequently reaching ‘severe’ levels. Authorities have responded by implementing hybrid learning models in schools, aiming to shield children from hazardous outdoor air. Full article here: https://lnkd.in/g5YbeHEq But here’s the critical question: Does staying indoors guarantee protection from pollution? Sadly, the answer is often no. Without proper filtration or ventilation systems, indoor air can be just as polluted—or worse—than the air outside. PM2.5 and other harmful pollutants easily infiltrate homes, exposing children to health risks even during online classes. That’s where solutions like our Breezer come in. Dnair — Smart ventilation and air purification unit ensures a continuous flow of clean, pollutant-free air, transforming indoor spaces into safe havens. 🌫️ Understanding GRAP Stage IV: Fighting Air Pollution in Delhi 🌍 Delhi's air quality has severely deteriorated, triggering Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Here’s what this means and the measures in place to combat pollution: 🚛 Restrictions on Trucks: Ban on the entry of diesel trucks (except those carrying essential goods or running on LNG/CNG/electric power). 🚗 Diesel Vehicle Ban: Medium and heavy diesel vehicles registered in Delhi cannot operate, with a few essential service exceptions. 🏗️ Halt on Construction: All construction and demolition activities, including highways and flyovers, are suspended to reduce dust pollution. 💼 Workforce Management: Offices are advised to work at 50% capacity, with the rest working from home to minimize vehicular emissions. 🏫 Education Adjustments: Physical classes may be suspended for certain grades, shifting to online to protect children from exposure. How You Can Help: 🌱 Stay indoors, especially if you're vulnerable. 🌱 Use air purifiers to maintain clean indoor air. 🌱 Mask up when outdoors to limit inhalation of pollutants. Let’s work together to follow these measures and protect Delhi’s air and health. 🌍 Every effort counts! Delhi’s air quality is at severe levels, triggering GRAP Stage IV! Everyone from new born child to senior most person is smoking 25 to 30 cigarettes every day. Babus have created narratives of pollution by stubble burning and politicians are paying blame game. None of the politicians and Govt’s are talking of pollution by #thermalpowerplants #aviation #indianrailways #nhai and local Industries. Assessing and addressing pollution is not appearing in election manifesto of any political party. Citizens have been reduced to guinea pigs courtesy #iitkanpur blaming cars for pollution contrary to study by #csirneeri and exhonerating #aviation once again contrary to manual by #moefcc. Our politicians Brown Britishers are worse than actual Britishers. God save us.
This is not a Linkedin specific topic...Its mid November only and the Delhi NCR pollution looks like this from my balcony (photo taken at 4 pm). Typically the pollution peaks in Jan and lasts till Feb end...So there are ~4 months to go... There's no action plan from the authorities. Schools as of now are still opening tomorrow...

Delhi's air quality has deteriorated again, prompting the reimposition of GRAP-3 (Graded Response Action Plan) restrictions to combat severe pollution levels. Authorities have taken immediate measures, including a hybrid learning model for schools up to Class 5, allowing parents to choose between online and offline classes. Additional restrictions under GRAP-3 include ban on construction and demolition activities, enhanced checks on industrial emissions and vehicular pollution. The national capital continues to struggle with high pollution levels caused by vehicular emissions, industrial activity, and seasonal stubble burning.
