What do ‘good’ new communities look like? And, more importantly, how can we work together to deliver them? Last month, in the midst of Budget speculation and progress from government on its plans for a ‘generation of new towns’, Stantec assembled a roundtable of leading voices and decision-makers to address these questions. We welcomed UK Chief Planner Joanna Averley and Chris Curtis, MP for Milton Keynes North, as well as figures from across investment, housebuilding, development, and advisory sectors, and local authorities. What we established was the importance of delivering not just the housing numbers, but also the quality of place we all aspire to. Communities which embed social infrastructure, connectivity, green space, character, wellbeing and a sense of place. Read more about the takeaways from Stantec’s Hannah Leary, Planning Director, and Michael Parkinson, Director, in this blog: https://ow.ly/a0AI50U7Ouo What do you think we need from new communities? Share your reactions and ideas in the comments. #NewCommunities #NewTowns

It's encouraging to see key stakeholders discuss the need for certainty and clarity from the government around the transition to the Future Homes Standard at the Future Homes Conference 2024 yesterday. We are excited to contribute to the future of homes that are zero-carbon ready with our sustainable heating solutions. #zerocarbonhomes #sustainableheating #zerocarbonheating #heatpumps #nibeheatpumps
Yesterday, Charlotte Lee, Chief Executive of the HPA. was a panellist at the Future Homes Hub Annual Conference, discussing the critical success factors needed for the delivery of the Future Homes Standard 🏡 The panel, which included John Palmer (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government), David Adams (Future Homes Hub), Trudie McCormick (Keepmoat), Stewart Dalgarno (Future Homes Hub), Stephen Andrew (Taylor Wimpey plc), and Neil Madgwick (UK Power Networks), discussed the importance of: 💬 Consistent and clear consumer messaging 📈 The availability of products and workforce growth ⚡ Grid readiness 🗓️ The need for certainty and clarity from the Government on the intent and timescales to support a smooth transition. With John Palmer commenting: “The sector shouldn’t read into the delayed response to the Future Homes Standard consultation as a sign of a lack of commitment or ambition from the Government”, we are hopeful for a Future Homes Standard consultation response soon. #Futurehomesstandard #futurehomeshub #futurehomeshubconference

Advance Housing, Inc. a dedicated organisation, was grappling with outdated systems across 60 sites, leading to inefficiencies and billing complexities. They needed a robust solution to streamline operations and improve service delivery. That's where Britannic stepped in! We provided a managed wide area network and a centralised communications platform, seamlessly integrating their operations. This upgrade simplified billing processes and significantly enhanced service delivery. With the new Social Housing Regulation Act 2023 on the horizon, Advance Housing is well-prepared to meet these new regulations, thanks to the foundation we helped them build. 📄 With a #GeneralElection on the horizon, how should a new government tackle the interlinked challenges faced by the UK #builtenvironment? With our Cost of Poor Housing report finding England’s poor quality homes cost the #NHS £1bn a year, our 2024 BRE Manifesto lays out plans for the research, development, delivery and leadership required to transform building standards and meet the UK #netzero commitments. 🔊"To solve the dual challenge of #decarbonising the sector while also fixing the #housing shortage, a new government needs to commit to proposals which take a holistic approach to the problem, ensuring outcomes are improved for individuals, communities, and the wider UK economy," said our CEO Gillian Charlesworth.
