It was a pleasure to celebrate Asuria Australia’s inaugural First Nations Customer Service Pre-Employment Program graduation event earlier this year, held at Dalmarri, on Dharug land, in Sydney’s Western suburbs. Dalmarri, meaning "meeting place", was the perfect venue for this special occasion—bringing together graduates, employers, and community leaders to celebrate, learn, and connect. We’re committed to building meaningful employment pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proud to have played a role in the creation of this program, which was delivered by METS Training Services and funded by Training Services Congratulations to the graduates on this milestone! Whether with us or any of the other employers who attended the event, we’re looking forward to supporting them as they embark on their careers. May your paths be filled with growth, learning, and success. 🎉

Did you know SCOE has a transition program that teaches adults who are disabled independent living and vocational skills? We collaborate with local businesses like Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa to give students the opportunity to earn job experience and fine-tune their work skills. Learn more about the program: https://lnkd.in/gMkqMUXz
We were delighted to welcome eight students from the Sonoma County Office of Education Special Education Transitional Program to celebrate World Duo Day with us today! This event held special significance as we currently collaborate with three incredible students from the program. We were also joined by our colleague Caleb, who successfully transitioned from this program to becoming a valued employee at SMI six years ago. The day began with a warm welcome and a delicious breakfast hosted by our director, Karim Ikrimah. Following that, we had meaningful discussions with the students about the hospitality industry, career opportunities at our hotel, and personal experiences that inspired us all. #AccorWorldDuoDays #WorkWithPurpose #IDPD2024

Time really flies! Last week marked my fourth anniversary at SHC, and reflecting on this journey, I'm struck by how rich and transformative these years have been. I'm sharing this post not just to celebrate a personal milestone but because the insights I've gained across different roles at SHC are too valuable not to share. These experiences have deeply influenced my professional path, and I believe they can inspire and guide many of you in your own careers. Over these four years, I've worn three distinct hats—𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀. Each role offered unique challenges and learning opportunities that have profoundly shaped my approach to business. ▶ In 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, my goal was to deeply understand our software and ensure our customers felt supported and valued. This role underscored the importance of listening attentively and solving problems effectively, which are crucial skills in any customer-facing job. ▶ Transitioning to 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵, I collaborated closely with our development team to enhance our product based on real user feedback. This experience taught me the importance of innovation and simplicity in creating tech solutions that not only function well but are also user-friendly. ▶ In 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀, I learned to simplify our complex tech talk into clear, client-friendly language. It was all about connecting our products to real-world needs and helping clients see the tangible benefits we offer, without getting bogged down in jargon. Now, I'm really excited to share what I've learned from these three different perspectives. They've not only helped me grow professionally but also given me a well-rounded view of our business. I think these insights could be super helpful for others in our industry too. A huge thanks to my incredible team for supporting me throughout this journey! I’m looking forward to sharing more, learning more, and connecting with all of you. 🍀 Happy Saint Patrick's Day! 🍀 As we celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ireland today, let's also take a moment to reflect on the valuable lessons Saint Patrick's Day can teach us in the job market. First, let's think about resilience. Just as Saint Patrick faced challenges and adversity, job seekers often encounter setbacks in their career journey. But like the shamrock symbolizes resilience, let's embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Networking plays a crucial role in advancing one's career. Saint Patrick's Day is a time for gatherings and celebrations. Similarly, whether attending industry events or connecting with professionals on LinkedIn, building meaningful relationships can open doors to new opportunities. Cultural diversity is another lesson we can learn from Saint Patrick's Day. The holiday is celebrated worldwide, highlighting the importance of cultural diversity. In today's global job market, employers value candidates who embrace diversity and can collaborate effectively with colleagues from different backgrounds. Finally, innovation is key to staying ahead in the job market. Just as Saint Patrick's Day traditions have evolved over time, the job market is constantly changing. Embracing innovation and staying adaptable are essential skills for navigating today's dynamic work environment. Let's raise a glass to Saint Patrick's Day and the valuable lessons it offers for success in the job market! Wishing you all the luck of the Irish in your career endeavors. #SaintPatricksDay #careersuccess 🌈🎩

One year wiser! This day usually used to be all above traveling, enjoying and partying the fuck out!! But this year had a lot of surprises. Everyone sets resolutions for the upcoming year, but only a few get to fulfill those. Looking back this previous year, all I did was work my ass off. • Showing up everyday, without a fail, locking in 10-12hrs daily. • Never left a stone unturned, not an opportunity missed. But instead of all the success, money and glory to the hardwork, which I had expected: • This year has taught me to be grateful for the opportunities that I am walking with. • Only hardwork alone doesn't pay off, you should do the right work at the right time at the right place with the right people. ✔️Patience is the main aspect this year taught me. You can work you ass off, but things take time, it takes time for the dots to connect, but you have to keep working and create the dots for them to connect. Overall a great year of patience, perseverance and continuous learning and growing. Grateful for the life I get to live! #personalgrowth

Dear Friends I am really glad to share that I received a competitive career starter grant from #knightsTemplarEyeFoundation (Marci Martinez) for 1 year of research focused on Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON). I would like to thank my mentor Prof. Don Zack for all the guidance and support, all my lab members specially Cindy Berlinicke, Casey Keuthan, Srinivasa Sripathi and my family and friends. Thanks to Prof. Alice Pébay AM for agreeing to share the LHON-iPSCs lines. LHON is the most common form of childhood optic neuropathy; it leads to central vision loss, with the onset ranging from ten to thirty years of age. More than 90% of LHON is linked with mutations in the mitochondrial genes encoding the subunits of NADH dehydrogenase. Despite the ubiquitous expression of these LHON-associated mitochondrial enzymes in all the cells, it lead to preferential dysfunction and death of only Retinal Ganglion Cells (RGCs). With the advancement of stem cells technology patient's specific iPSCs can be differentiated into various cell type including RGCs and other retinal cells. In this project we are going to explore the preferential loss of LHON-RGCs compared to other retinal cells using retinal organoids. We expect the proposed study will help us to understand the potential drivers of LHON-associated RGC dysfunction and cell death; pathways which could then be targeted for the development of LHON therapeutic strategies. https://lnkd.in/e_Yz_xDC
Congratulations to (from left) Bo Wang, Ying Liu and Abhishek Vats on being awarded Career Starter Grants by the Knights Templar Foundation!

Today marks my two-year anniversary in the corporate realm, and it has been a journey filled with valuable lessons and significant growth. At the start of my career, I was forced to resign from my high-paying first job. The desperation to get another job as quickly as possible got me an amazing opportunity but at a huge pay cut. (Not a sob story). This opportunity proved to be a stepping stone towards learning, work life balance and rebuilding my profile. After a rigorous year of learning and delivering targets, I grabbed the next best opportunity with open arms to grow at par with my skill set and qualifications. Contrary to the conventional idea of stability, 2 years and 3 companies later, I learnt a few more things apart from B2B Sales of course: 1. Your health, peace of mind and family time is a priority. Learn to establish work life balance. 2. Your qualification is not enough! You'll get good money and great opportunities if you have the right skill set with qualifications. 3. You need to believe in the company and their product/service to be able to work towards mutual success. Choose your company wisely. 4. Cannot emphasize enough on this- consistently build your skills and experience in a domain/ industry you feel confident, interested and passionate about. CTC will follow. 5. Have short term and long term goals to excel in your professional life and consciously work in the direction which leads to its attainment. I learnt and practiced it all in 2 years. Am I at a better place today compared to 2 years ago? Hell Yes! P.S. my career journal.

When I was growing up, we were continuously told to keep both our wins and failures to ourselves because “batho bata go lowa.” You get accepted into university, get a job you are reminded to keep it to yourself, you fail or drop out of school you are sent to the farm or the village so that you do not become the laughingstock of the community. I fully understand where this notion comes from, but I also often wonder if we were taught from an early age to openly speak about our wins and losses if we would not have developed better strategies at coping and celebrating both, without hanging on to what people will say. I am a firm believer in sharing both the good and the bad, with the hope that our story helps someone else. Working on yourself, building a business or a career is hard, and as you go through it you will encounter many good moments and equally bad moments, you will also be criticized but I’ve learnt that both the wins and the losses are some of the key ingredients that shape a winner. For the last 6 years we at The Bulb World have taken so many L’s, and we are grateful for each and everyone of them as they have given us strength to continue in the journey to fulfilling our goal of building Africa’s biggest lighting brand. Whilst the journey is hard, we would like to take a moment to celebrate the following: ✅we are listed in over five thousand (5000) stores across Africa. ✅we have created both permanent and temporary employment. ✅we have been lighting up households, streets and communities since inception. ✅We have completed over 10 CSR projects since inception. ✅And we have increased our product range to twenty-seven (27) since inception. We could never have achieved any of this if we did not have challenges, support, and the will to keep going. We do not share our stories to brag or to get pity, but to give you the courage to dream, the courage to start, the courage to face challenges, the courage to keep moving and build a legacy. If we do not share our stories both the good and the bad, then our light is not bright enough, we would have failed! Please go out there, face your challenges with a smile, ignore the noise, pray, and work hard for your wins 🙏🏾. Happy New Week!
