🇪🇺 The European BLACKCYCLE project: A game changer for the tyre circular economy! 🚙 The ambitious objectives of the BLACKCYCLE project are paving the way for a revamped value chain in the tyre recycling industry, bringing forward-thinking solutions to rejuvenate old tyres. 🏆 The BLACKCYCLE initiative, supported by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program, spearheaded by Michelin, and including 12 organizations from five European nations, has achieved remarkable success due to four key factors:- 1️⃣ It has successfully provided five essential technologies for a fresh value chain, enabling the conversion of ELT into premium SRMs. 2️⃣ It has adopted a holistic approach, taking into account the technical, social, economic, and environmental aspects of the value chain, with all partners contributing their skills. 3️⃣ By working together, the project members have enhanced the entire value chain of ELT transformations, instead of just focusing on separate parts, as is typically done when everyone works independently. 4️⃣ This initiative has played a key role in the development of the tyre circular economy ecosystem in Europe. It was groundbreaking in exploring the potential of the ecosystem. In fact, it served as a catalyst for the launch of a comparable project in Korea. There is a heatwave affecting major parts of the globe, and it's an alarming situation. To address this problem, many startups are working on sustainable energy solutions. It's essential to make people aware of this situation. At the Champions League Startup Event in London, three solutions were presented to leave a positive impact after the final. The three solutions are: 1. Fan Engagement and Sustainable Behaviour Challenge 2. Sustainable Food Challenge 3. Green Energy Challenge The one I liked the most was the "Green Energy Challenge." The startup Pavegen deployed an energy-generating dance floor at the Champions League Festival. This demonstrated how a startup can do things differently. We, as Gen Z, have to shift our mindset to sustainable practices to make the world a better place to live for future generations. #sustainable

💡 A California startup, supported by Bill Gates, is turning air and water into butter-like fat. ✔ Savor’s innovative process creates fat molecules without greenhouse gas emissions, using carbon from air and hydrogen from water. This method produces dairy alternatives with the same taste and texture as traditional products but with a much lower carbon footprint. As a big believer of #collaboration, I find this a great example of #business and #executiveeducation learning together-- from the start. KIDEMIS, a #startup with an innovative solution to reduce the need for fishmeal, joined an IMD MBA 2024 class. Over the course of 3 months, a class team helped Kidemis to sharpen its value proposition and strategy, quantifying the positive SDG impacts behind the business model. Kidemis's solid-state fermentation technology uses natural mycelium to convert low value agricultural side streams that would otherwise be incinerated or used for landfill. The nutritious mycoprotein can replace the fishmeal and/or soya in feed used for aquafarming. With today's increased ocean pollution and shortage of wild catch, controlled and sustainable aquafarming is a good way forward. Is your business in touch with academia?
