Friendly and knowledgeable health workers play a crucial role in educating young women about female condoms, including their correct use, benefits, and availability. Female condoms empower women by giving them greater control over their sexual health and contraception. They offer a reliable method to prevent both unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV. One of the standout advantages of female condoms is their dual protection. Unlike many other forms of contraception, female condoms prevent both pregnancy and STIs, which is particularly vital for young women who may be at higher risk for STIs.Have you ever seen a female condom? If not, don't worry! We have both female and male condoms available at our offices, and our friendly staff are here to provide you with all the information you need. Whether you're curious about how to use them, their benefits, or just want to learn more, we're here to help. Your sexual health and empowerment are our top priorities.

While it's taboo to talk about Sexual & Reproductive Health in most households in PNG, it's sad to see rising cases of unplanned pregnancy, STI and HIV and AIDS among young adolescent especially female. The Government has done it's best to decentralize updated treatment on STI and HIV & AIDS in Provincial Hospitals and some Health centres but sadly "Shame" keeps adolescents away. One solution to this problem in my opinion is to introduce sexual health and reproduction topics in upper primary cirriculum and allow the students to discuss openly about "taboo" topics.#ThinkingOutLoud01.Aug.24

It's #InternationalCondomDay and...#ValentinesDay! - In 2020, 374 million new Sexually Transmitted Infections (SIT), including #HIV, occurred globally among adults aged 15–49, with 1 of the 4 curable STIs: syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhoea and trichomoniasis. The majority of these could be prevented with the correct use of condoms. - Ninety-eight percent of women whose male partners use male condoms correctly in every sex act over one year will be protected from unplanned pregnancy; when female condoms are used, 95% of them will be protected against unplanned pregnancy. Gonorrhea, caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, is an STI transmitted through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. The infection can also be passed from the mother to the baby during pregnancy. Common symptoms among men that may experience include burning during urination, a white, yellow, or green discharge, and sometimes pain in the testes. While women might not feel any symptoms, those who do experience them might have increased discharge, pain or burning during urination, or vaginal bleeding during intercourse. Many cases are asymptomatic, leading to undiagnosed infections and further transmission. In addition, gonorrhea can increase the risk of getting and spreading HIV. Regular testing and safer sex practices are vital for prevention. #Gonorrhea #STIprevention #GetTested

In 2023, we continued to see threats that impact SRHR progress, and yet in the face of these challenges we also saw important advances. CIFF worked with partners to close the funding gaps for family planning, strengthen government ownership of SRHR, and improve access to self-managed contraception, HIV self-testing and access to quality safe abortion or post-abortion care. As put by our Executive Director for SRHR Miles Kemplay, although the scale of the issues we face far outweigh the current solutions available - we are able to see progress & we can demonstrate alongside partners that rapid change is possible. Read more about our SRHR impact in the report 🔎 https://lnkd.in/dqeDdSvm
