Today’s #AfricanProverb, “You can’t hide smoke when the house is burning”, is from the county that was formerly part of Rwanda…you guessed it – Burundi. The metaphor of a burning house and its visible smoke signifies that when issues become too large or critical, no matter how hard one tries to cover them up, they will come to light. This is all too real in the world of #business. #Financial mismanagement, bad #governance, operational failures, unethical #business practices, and failure to adapt quickly to #market trends are just few of the “smokey” practices you cannot hide or cover up for too long. These shortcomings will eventually be exposed and in most cases, the fallout will be either irreversible or cost twice as much to gain back your #clients, #customers, and the public’s trust. It is, therefore, important that as a business leader, you keep a clean house, upholding proactive problem-solving, transparency, and #ethical business practices. The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce is the leading private sector organisation proffering #trade and commerce support for UK/Ghana businesses. We would love to know how we can support you grow your business. Write to us at info@ukgcc.com.gh or tap https://lnkd.in/d-FSx3Nk and join us today! #UKGCC #AfricanProverb #Businessgrowth #JoinUKGCC

With a democracy score of 4.23 out of 10 and a global rank of 104th, Nigeria is at a crucial moment. These numbers reflect the gaps in our democracy—the voices still unheard, the accountability still lacking, and the work still needed. But democracy isn’t built by governments alone. It thrives when citizens—ordinary people like us—stay informed, vote, and demand better. It grows stronger when we hold leaders accountable, ask important questions, and engage in our communities. Together, these small actions create a stronger, more representative Nigeria. Let’s use this score as a call to action, building a Nigeria where democracy truly reflects the will and welfare of its people. Our democracy’s strength lies not just in numbers but in the commitment of its citizens. THREE things MUST happen to get Kenya out of this existential crisis. FIRST, the President must REJECT the bill as passed by the National Assembly. SECOND, Kenya Kwanza and Azimio MPs must come together and write a new Finance Bill taking into account the public’s key concerns. THIRDLY, the President needs to reconstitute his team of economic advisors. They are tone deaf and have brought Kenya to the brink of catastrophe and international shame. Lastly, I mourn the loss of life yesterday and wish all those who were injured a quick recovery. Let all be united for the love of country to get Kenya out of this crisis.

From Prosperity to Poverty: Are We Still on the Right Track Empty seats at one of the Nigerian airports this morning, and it’s no surprise. A return ticket from Lagos to Abuja now costs ₦400k, while Lagos to Benin is ₦320k—prices that used to take you all the way to London not too long ago! The middle class has been wiped out in a single swoop. What happened to affordability? It feels like we’re now living in ‘Animal Farm’, where equality is just a mirage. What a country—from grace to grass, from prosperity to poverty. How did we get here? Nigerians, do you think we are still on the right track with governance and leadership in this country? #Nigeria #CostOfLiving #EconomicCrisis #MiddleClassSqueeze #AnimalFarm #LeadershipCrisis
