🎉Happy Earth Day from VALZEO!🌍 🌾🎉At VALZEO, we're passionate about innovative solutions for a sustainable future. This Earth Day, we're celebrating our commitment to transforming rice husk waste into powerful environmental remediation tools.🌍 🌾 🔥Turning waste into opportunity: Rice husk ash (RHA), a byproduct of rice production, is a major environmental concern. Traditional disposal methods like incineration pollute the air and surrounding areas.🌍 ⭐️💡VALZEO's solution: We're developing composite materials using RHA as a raw material. These materials will be embedded with metal oxides and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to: 💡Purify water: Remove contaminants like pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, and microorganisms. 💡Produce biodiesel: Through a catalytic process, contributing to renewable energy sources. 👌Beyond innovation, fostering collaboration: VALZEO is committed to knowledge sharing. We're promoting researcher exchange programs between participating institutions to: 💡🤝Share best practices and knowledge Spark innovation 🤝🌍Build a global culture of sustainable practices 👬👬Join us in creating a greener future! We're looking for talented researchers to join our mission. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities and follow us for more updates on VALZEO's impact .🌾🎉🌎 #EarthDay #Sustainability #WasteManagement #GreenTechnology #VALZEO know more about VALZEO 👉(https://lnkd.in/drdM9MvQ

🌿 𝐈𝐬 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥? We’ve all heard this question and the debates surrounding it. Well, I’m excited to share that a new research paper, the result of a collaboration between multiple institutions, provides a clear answer for Austria’s managed forests. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫: No, it’s 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳!🌍 Sustainable forest management do not add more CO2 to the atmosphere, it removes carbon from the atmosphere. Sustainably managed forests are critical for long-term carbon removal, supplying us with essential raw materials for construction, base chemicals, and renewable energy—helping us move away from fossil fuels. Next step, fostering bioenergy with biochar or CCS to create permanent carbon removal. ✨𝐌𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: Let’s learn from Denmark’s success and adapt a Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR) pathway to Austria’s needs, making it a cornerstone of our carbon neutrality strategy, creating green jobs, providing energy, producing functional carbon sinks. 📖 Find the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dPDzkVz7 Many thanks to the authors: Robert Jandl, @Herbert Hager, @Florian Kraxner, @Thomas Ledermann, @Peter Weiss Bundesforschungszentrum für Wald (BFW) University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) Umweltbundesamt - Environment Agency Austria IG Holzkraft BIOWÄRME TIROL Bioenergy Europe Bundesverband Bioenergie (BBE) European Biochar Industry Consortium (EBI) #Sustainability #CarbonRemoval #Bioenergy #Forestry #NetZero #ClimateAction #Biochar #BCR

#SummerRounds I continue my coverage of the latest financing rounds in water with a couple of start-ups developing water-treatment solutions with a carbon reduction aspect that helps them tap into the lucrative voluntary carbon markets. Today I am covering BlueGreen Water Technologies which has recently raised double-digit millions in its Series B to finance its technology to reduce eutrophication, or excess alga blooms, in waterways that are caused by excess fertiliser use in agriculture. The company is using copper and aluminium sulfates with biodegradable coatings, augmented with satellite monitoring and AI capabilities to tailor-make alga-bloom remediation projects to the uniqueness of each bloom and its local ecosystem aspects. The company claims this remediation also removes CO2 from the atmosphere and that its technology has the potential to sequester 5 to 15 Gigatons of CO2 each year, or almost half of global emissions. This is an extraordinary claim requiring extraordinary evidence. Whilst the company had its first third-party verified carbon credit issued, its methodology does not seem to be publicly available or peer-reviewed. The carbon sequestration dynamics of alga bloom remediation are also not so trivial and the increasing scrutiny in the validity of carbon credits makes this wide market potential questionable. The company holds however a valid solution to a growing alga problem that is affecting many industries like water utilities, fishing, tourism and agriculture These are all markets the company could explore and nurture. Read more about BlueGreen Technologies, its technology and business potential, and how the growing issue of eutrophication can become a niche but attractive market for companies like BlueGreen to effectively deal with this rising contamination issue.
