#WorldToiletDay | In Cox's Bazar, #Bangladesh, nearly a million Rohingyas have taken refuge. During humanitarian operations, usually in post-emergency situations, sanitation is a crucial issue, especially fecal sludge.💧 So, how can we protect populations from the pathologies carried by these flows? How can we ensure that what is returned to #nature is not a vector for pollution? How can we protect the various resources needed to treat #water and make it drinkable? The Fondation Veolia (Romain V.) is working with the OIM - ONU Migration, to install a pilot fecal sludge post-treatment system inside the refugee camps. Two Veoliaforce volunteers from Veolia Eau d'Ile-de-France, Thomas Schwarz and Melvin Radlo, went on the field to install and optimize the #Saniforce Solar, a low-#energy solution for treating fecal sludge. It is designed to treat the contents of septic tanks and latrine pits for up to 500 people. 🧑🤝🧑 The IOM operates a decentralized wastewater treatment system, comprising an anaerobic treatment system and an effluent infiltration system. Faced with the persistence of pathogens such as cholera, the UN agency turned to Saniforce for its ability to rid the material of 99.9% of potential pathogens. 🦠 🔗 Find out more on this project: https://lnkd.in/eJGKcjbB
