Trade Talk: For Quirk’s Event speakers, change was in session
"Our Quirk’s Events don’t have themes or tracks, which is by design, as it frees us up to present a wide range of topics and viewpoints without the need to shoehorn a session into a track that’s not a good fit...So that typically means that any post-event trends or themes that emerge do so organically. Two events into our 2024 slate, what has stood out to me from our Dallas (in February) and Chicago (in March) gatherings is the value – and, really, necessity – of being adaptable."

AgTech Friends (in the Bay Area or visiting!) - see below for an in person get together that Sachi Desai, Rhishi P. and I are co-hosting in a couple of weeks. We are excited to get everyone together live so we can catch up in person and share what's going on with everyone and with AgTech. We have a lot of fun talking about the space and thought getting a bigger group together once in a while would be even more fun - especially based on occasions where we get to do so like World Agri-Tech and World Ag Expo.
I think Sachi may have been taking some Founder Mode (All In podcast joke for those that missed last episode) - this won't quite make it to 2000s really dope rave status (not that I would know - I had either 4 or 5 kids in the 2000s ...)
I think of it more as How I Met Your Mother meets Big Bang Theory over dinner, where AgTech geeks get to be the cool kids for a night! For those old enough to remember MUGs (Macintosh User Groups), that's the vibe I think we're going for but our Fat Mac (256k - who could need more?) has been replaced by autonomous tractors and super cool gene editing tools! If you're too young to remember MUGs, Google will handle your questions (they were awesome) - just come and have fun! Having reached my exclamation point quota, I will sign off ...

We (Patrick Honcoop and I) hosted an informal meetup last month in SF South Bay and it was a very good turnout. Many people asked me if this was going to be a regular event.
So, this month I am teaming up with Walt Duflock and Sachi Desai to host another informal meetup somewhere on the peninsula in the SF Bay Area on September 30th, 2024.
We are calling it "AgTech Alchemy". We hope the informal conversations and connections will lead to some magic (or not!).
We will announce the location 3-4 days before the event, based on the number of people who register for the event.

At Mobsta, we genuinely believe that our success and value system intertwines with the success of our customers and partners. This drives everything we do. That's why it was so rewarding to see this sentiment reflected at B Lab UK's #LouderThanWords festival last week.
The event's panel discussions and speakers left us inspired. One key takeaway we've been reflecting on since the festival is this...
🔗 Embrace collaboration
We are part of a broader ecosystem so we recognise the importance of fostering strong partnerships across industries. The question we’re asking ourselves is: how can we collaborate more effectively to drive positive change while ensuring inclusivity and access for all? And how do we ensure that our customers and partners continue to benefit so that they also thrive?
We’re excited to put these insights into action, so stay tuned for some exciting cross-industry collaborations coming soon. If you'd like to be part of the conversation or learn more, feel free to reach out.

**** LDF24 Appreciation Post **** 😍
We definitely made the most of Leeds Digital Festival last week - with team members showing up as panellists and attendees for a wide range of informative and thought-provoking events.
This year’s event felt like our most productive yet - and the event seems to be going from strength to strength.
It’s got us thinking about the power of a regional festival, specifically one here in Leeds, and what it offers those of us working in and around the M62/West Yorkshire corridor and beyond.
Here’s our reasons for loving LDF - let us know yours...
* Leeds is one of the fastest-growing fin-tech hubs in the UK the potential for knowledge-sharing is immense
* The sector is worth £6.5 billion a year - and rising - can you afford to ignore us?
* We work in global markets but regional networking still counts - we love the IRL coffees, meetings and contacts we’ve enjoyed this year
* Collaboration is a cornerstone of the city’s success and was evident at the festival. As one of our collaborators, Hippo’s Liz Whitefield, puts it; “There’s something about the way the community comes together here that I've never seen anywhere else. It's a shared mission. We compete against each other, but we also partner and collaborate.”
There are now 70+ tech sector networks regularly meeting across the city - making it a great place to start, grow or boost your business, many of them had a presence
* Our academic institutions are part of the story too - actively partnering with business to provide the best training and employable candidates and showing up to network and showcase their mission
