Earlier this year, to ignite awareness, the Vitiligo Allies Team participated in the #LetsTalkVitiligo campaign with The Vitiligo Society, confirming that at least 1 in 100 individuals have Vitiligo, if not more. Watch the video to learn more about this important initiative. The insights from the largest-ever UK survey shed light on the impact of this condition on mental health and stress the critical need for enhanced access to healthcare support. The longer video can be watched here on YouTube https://lnkd.in/eHKrNwTp Creating safe spaces where individuals affected by vitiligo can share their stories and feelings openly is essential for fostering a supportive environment. Education about vitiligo is crucial for dispelling misconceptions, eradicating stigma, and cultivating empathy and understanding. It was such an honor to join Aaron Dante and his co-host Beth Anne Dorman for this timely and important discussion about the need to increase access to mental and behavioral health services. At CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, we recently granted nearly $10 million to community-based mental and behavioral health organizations serving youth across the region, and expanded our partnership with tech-enabled providers like Headway to help reduce wait times and improve patient access to providers. And for many of us the need is only growing more critical with each passing day. According to a recent report from the U.S. Surgeon General, research covering 80,000 youth globally found that depressive and anxiety symptoms doubled during the pandemic, with 25 percent of youth experiencing depressive symptoms and 20 percent experiencing anxiety symptoms. And a separate report on workplace mental health and wellbeing found that 76 percent of workers reported at least one symptom of a mental health condition. As I shared in the discussion with Aaron and Beth, when someone is in need, reducing their wait to see a healthcare professional is critical. We must move with the speed required to meet them as they move through time and circumstance.

It’s #CTWeek24 from Community Transport Association shining a light on the value of CT across the UK, and reminding us that most things in life today are transport dependent, so without it we lose out. Millions of people don’t have the transport they need - CT plugs the gaps; for the group to get to a football match, the lady that wants to do her shop and hold onto her independence, and for patients that need to get to hospital - it's literally life changing - for all of us; our families, friends, our neighbours. It creates community - it keeps us connected. Ultimately, it's a significant tool for the challenge of our times, reducing social isolation and strengthening our mental health. More than just a minibus it helps our community be well and stay well. #communitytransport #KensingtonAndChelsea #mentalhealthsupport #CommunitySolutions #AccessibleTransport
