In a talk on 27 June at 6.30 pm at the Conference Pavilion on the Vitra Campus leading architecture and energy experts Matthias Böttger, Philipp Misselwitz and Christine von Raven will share and discuss their different perspectives on Energyscapes. The talk will be moderated by Jochen Eisenbrand, curator of our current exhibition "Transform! Designing the Future of Energy". Energyscapes emerge where energy is part of our urban, rural, and natural landscapes. Beyond visible energy infrastructures like power stations, wind farms, or solar panels, the term also refers to the invisible energy flows passing through buildings and includes distribution networks as well as renewable energy sources. Free admission; please register at events@design-museum.de The talk will be held in german. #VDMTransform #vitradesignmuseum #energy #design #designexhibition #exhibition #designhistory #designresearch #designlovers #designer #vitracampus #museum #museenbasel #baselmuseums #thisisbasel #basel #weilamrhein Main partner: Sparkasse Sparkasse Markgräflerland Supported by IKEA Foundation Media partner: ARTE Images: Matthias Böttger © Till Budde; Philipp Misselwitz; Jochen Eisenbrand © Vitra Design Museum, Lucia Hunziker; Christine von Raven

Europe‘s building stock accounts for 36% CO2 emissions and for 40% energy demand. It offers a huge leverage to contribute not only to environmental protection, but also to good health, living comfort and economic growth. Improving the energy-efficiency of both new and existing buildings is key to achieve EU's 2050 objectives. The EAE Awards demonstrate that energy-efficient buildings and superb architecture go hand in hand. We reward inspiring projects from accross Europe that have already demonstrated that the transition is possible already today. 👉 Curious? Starting in 2027, solar panels will be a requirement for new constructions and publicly owned buildings over 2,000 square meters. By 2028, this threshold will drop to 750 square meters, and similar requirements will apply to renovations outside the residential sector. 🏘️ While this shift towards sustainable building practices is crucial, it also presents challenges, particularly with traditional crystalline solar panels. This is where thin-film technology, specifically CIGS, comes into play. 💡 A technology that enables the installation of solar panels where weight is a challenge, such as on steel roofs and roofing felt, while also delivering a lower CO2 footprint. 🌱 🌎 Curious to learn more about integrating sustainable solutions into our architecture? Join us for the seminar "Sustainability and New Architecture with Building-Integrated Solar Panels," where Jens Sørensen will share his insights and expertise. The event will be held at the Aarhus School of Architecture and is organized by Solar City Denmark. 🔗 Read more about the event and other speakers here: https://shorturl.at/vC9MY #sustainablearchitecture #greenbuilding #solarcity #sustainableconstruction

Energy transformation. It's been about 4 or 5 years since I last visited the Vitra Design Museum. This presents a good opportunity to revisit soon, especially with the upcoming opening of the exhibition "Transform! Designing the Future of Energy" in just a few days. Buildings, infrastructures, and devices for generating, distributing, and using energy are all products of human creativity. The exhibition delves into the ongoing energy transition from a design perspective, showcasing everything from devices for harvesting renewable energy to solar buildings and wind turbines. It will be fascinating to see how design can aid us in transitioning to renewable energies and reducing our energy consumption. The exhibits will feature examples of innovative and experimental product design, speculative design projects, films, architectural archetypes, and visionary future concepts. 🙌 What’s your take? # 298 EVENTS, Germany 👉 More contents on our website, the link to the featured news is in the first comment below. 🎯 If you want to learn more about our transformative approach to generating growth (yes, what we call innovation marketing!), feel free to write us privately. #OutNow | DETAIL 6.2024: Climate and Resources >> https://lnkd.in/ggRMY-eU Sustainability encompasses various practices, all aimed at reducing carbon emissions. Adaptive reuse of buildings and minimizing embodied energy (grey energy) are crucial for achieving climate neutrality. Equally vital measures are the efficient use of resources and reducing operational energy consumption in buildings designed for long-term use. Numerous strategies can reduce a building’s environmental impact. With this June issue, we spotlight six diverse projects that are taking steps towards a climate-neutral future in very different ways. Choosing to move beyond a restrictive mindset, we feature not only urban timber constructions and adaptive reuse with building extensions but also a concrete building and a vacation home in a field. These include two apartment buildings in Barcelona and Eindhoven with low-tech solutions and circular construction. In Lot, France, a new school building by Dietrich Untertrifaller generates more energy than it consumes and the BOB Campus by Raumwerk.Architekten in Wuppertal leverages a site-specific resource for sustainability: existing structures. Enjoy the issue! The word is out!!! Circular-CLT being used in the building industry Together with a great team we have done it!!! TNO, The Woodjoint, Staatsbosbeheer, DZB Leiden, Boerboom Hout Groep Urban Climate Architects The first screw for us is a large turning point for the building industry. We are able to use up-cycled wood. Around 1 million pallets are thrown away or left to burn. They can now be used to build great projects. The Urban Woods is the first in the world that uses C-CLT. Please be a copy cat so we can safe the world together.
