On this International Day of Peace, we have joined Bond UK and over 100 UK-based NGOs to call on the UK government to protect international aid. We urge the government to uphold aid spending at 0.58% of GNI and swiftly work towards restoring the official target of 0.7%. If these critical funds are not protected, millions of people across the globe will face severe cuts to essential humanitarian and development programmes. 🌍 At a time when the world is grappling with climate change, food insecurity and increasing poverty, we must not turn away from those in need! Aid is not just about resources, it's about creating the conditions for peace, preventing conflict and supporting people to build better futures. "On this International Humanitarian Day, let's remember the core principles of humanitarian aid: neutrality, impartiality, and independence. Use your power responsibly, be accountable for your actions, and shun greediness. Humanitarian aid should never be used as a tool for personal gain or political agendas. Aid workers must operate independently, prioritizing the needs of the affected communities. Let's keep the focus on those who need our help the most. #AidWorkersMustOperateIndependently #OfCourseAidWorkersNotTheTarget #HappyInternationalHumanitarianDay #HumanitarianAid #AccountabilityMatters"
