Women can't drive well... Women can't... Women don't know how to... Women don't want to ... ...you can complete each sentence from your own experience. I obtained my driver's license at the age of 18, since then I have driven thousands of kilometers in different countries and owned two cars. My first car was a red Toyota Celica, a sport car from 1989. 🚘 I like the independence that the car gives you, the flexibility to move around and especially to discover new places. I have to admit that also speed. So, I participated in several rally competitions in a row at the"Women Rally" organized by Laura Savu, in Cluj. There are so many women who participate every year in car races, so many women who demonstrate daily that car driving skills are not reserved only for men anymore. But still there is this mentality that women are not good enough in many domains. I think that everything comes down to the level of confidence in yourself, when you want to try something new, to learn and develop a new ability. After all, a woman, just like a man, can do as many things as she sets her mind to and works to achieve them. Running Tata Ultra Marathon 2024 - 50 KM 🏃🏻♂️🔥😂 My first ultra-marathon, finished with no injuries in 5:46:08. And here are my learnings: 1. I could have saved 10 minutes if I had controlled my eating urge. I need to be more watchful especially when I have trained hard for the race. 2. The travel plan needs to be better especially when I am traveling by air and then by bus. 3. I wish to carry more good healthy food in my travel bag. 4. Going forward I want to limit races that are far and don’t have direct connectivity. Anxiety and getting sleep in a hotel is a big challenge for me. The race and the travel were expensive(INR 16,000 approx) but if I had to go next year then it would be for the course and the arrangement made by the Tata Ultra group and Striders. We’re really pleased to see Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE backing calls for accessible public electric vehicle (EV) charging to be mandated.   We co-sponsored the BSI PAS 1899 accessible charging standard, which sets out clear guidance for making public chargepoints accessible. Sometimes I wonder why people end up in motorsports. It's not a 9-5. It's mostly not a desk job. It's not a stable environment to work. It's not "clean" (pretty much the opposite) It's not easy to explain, understand or talk about. The work-life balance is sub-optimal and needs work. I wouldn't suggest it to most people I know. Because it genuinely is not for everyone. You need a lot of willpower and commitment to be in a line of work where most things are at the tipping point - from working hours to pay, mental and physical health, security, safety, and stability. You need to be IN LOVE with the art. You need to be all-in with your craft. You need to be dialled in. Cranked up to 101. Always. Because if you are, believe me when I say this: NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO WORKING IN MOTORSPORTS. So, what's stopping you? As the race season dawns upon us, I've got to think about how much running races/marathons have been a powerful catalyst for my personal and professional growth in the past year. What started as a way to shed some stubborn kilos quickly during COVID-19 became a central part of who I am. Training for races with a precise schedule felt surprisingly manageable because I had a strong goal driving me. This discipline seamlessly translated into my work life, helping me tackle tasks efficiently and maintain a structured approach. It was all about getting it done. Injury was looming on us, I was losing toenails sometimes, but I looked forward to waking up at 4 am and running through Central Bangalore to get my Saturday long run, fuel well, and dissect splits with mentors and friends on Strava. I also found a community of like-minded individuals and fellow runners, which enhanced my social skills and built my confidence in social situations. They will be my ride or die, always While physical fitness was a great outcome, the real benefit was the mental clarity and focus that came from logging those miles. Running gave me a life outside of product & tech and provided a healthy outlet for managing work-related stress. Though I’ve never been able to meditate, running helped me clear my mind and process emotions with a refreshed perspective. But beyond all of this, running has made me deeply aware that movement is a privilege. The ability to push my body, to run freely, and to challenge myself is something I no longer take for granted.
