Hello Muirhead families and followers… We recently shared the old video of our take on ‘the night before christmas’ and a conversation was had about what other stories we could put a Muirhead spin on for next year. Not wanting to wait that long, I started thinking about the best Christmas stories and films and wondered how I could connect the work we do. So here is what I came up with – our favourite Christmas stories and how Muirhead would have been able to help or what role they could have played. Elf – Buddy the elf is great at communicating his emotions and feelings (I love you, I love you, I looooove yoooooou!) however his dad – Walter Hobbs, really struggles. So Walter would have benefited from the week of our foundation work where we help our families to recognise emotions. Having an Elf arrive on your doorstep and finding out you have a big brother is going to be a period of change (even if they give you sugar for breakfast) so we would have wanted to help Michael's mum and dad understand how that might show up and what we could do to reassure him. An example is Denmark’s longest Christmas parade - bringing neighbors together year after year. As someone born, raised and still living on Amager, I’ve watched this parade since I was a child. In recent years it’s been even more special as I’ve walked the 3.5 km through Amagerbrogade alongside my children and their local scout group. The streets came alive with neighbors, families, and children eagerly giving high-fives, creating an atmosphere that embodied the spirit of Christmas ✨ But this parade is about more than holiday magic. It’s a testiment of the importance of building community and engagement. Businesses along Amagerbrogade have long recognized the value of investing in these traditions – not just for sales, but for building loyalty and support. For those of us in the financial sector, it’s a great reminder that the greatest performance and returns often come from investing in people. The amazing organisation that is #parkrun is 20 years old today. There is clear evidence of the significant impact it has on mental health, local community cohesion and encouraging people into/back into exercise. Through a recent research project on parkrun, published in the #EuropeanJournalofMarketing, I explored how innovative it's approach to volunteering was.
