Another non-infilled football field completed, this time for Ormiston Primary School. TigerTurf NRG2 (no rubber granules) over our patented ecocept® sports and drainage pad. No stabilising or performance infill, instead the product has been designed, tested and engineered in conjunction with professional football players at PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands to provide the yarn support and sports performance in combination with the sports pad. No stabilising infill means a much longer surface life with no added abrasive. No performance infill means a lower cost of ownership and maintenance and lower environmental footprint with no unbound infill migrating to waterways. No need to design and engineer infill containment and capture elements in the field. No infill top up, no decompaction and no more pockets and socks full of infill after the game. No infill also makes for a much more friendly turf to recycle at end of life with no abrasives or contaminants for recycling machinery. Add to this this NRG2 turf is being laid on our ecocept® sports/drainage pad that is diverting 45,000kg mixed plastic waste and approx 5,000 end of life vehicle tires out of landfill. A few weeks ago, we shared about how we were planting the seeds to grow the lignocellulosic crop that forms the backbone of the MOB™ process. Well, despite our UK weather trying to stop us the team has now successfully got an emerging crop underway. It might not seem much at the moment but remember, 'from tiny acorns grow mighty oaks'. This plant-based alternative to plastic media which gives increased treatment capacity within the existing asset footprint, whilst reducing nutrient levels is just what we need to support future innovation in wastewater treatment processes.
