The IUCN #AfricaConservationForum2024 in Nairobi highlighted the importance of building resilience in Africa’s critical ecosystems. While speaking on a panel addressing the role of private sector in enhancing conservation, I discussed how integrating business and conservation can bridge the gap between business interests of economic viability and conservation efforts. I have had a lifelong passion for wildlife and supported conservation efforts in Kenya through the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy and my experiences points to the fact that successful collaboration requires more than policies and incentives that encourage businesses to integrate conservation into their core strategies. Establishing clear, enforceable regulations is also essential to create a supportive environment for sustainable practices. By partnering with stakeholders across sectors, we can scale efforts, share risks, and innovate for sustainable solutions. I am filled with hope and determination for the future of conservation in Africa! I am more committed than ever to advancing the intersection of business and conservation. Increased private investment will unlock impactful conservation initiatives across Africa. As highlighted in the Tanzanian Times, the official handover of Manyara Ranch Conservancy marked a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable conservation and community empowerment. This transition not only underscores the importance of local stewardship but also aligns with our vision of #Africanled #conservation initiatives. Sea & Bush's investment of TZS 53 billion in the region signals a bright future for community-driven #economicdevelopment and #environmentalsustainability. It is a testament to the collaborative efforts required to protect our natural heritage while fostering economic growth. At the African Wildlife Foundation, we believe in the power of community engagement and the critical role that local leaders play in conservation. This handover is more than a transfer of land; it’s a transfer of trust and responsibility to those who live closest to the wildlife and landscapes we strive to protect. Since 2013, when the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund supported the early conservation efforts of the Grevy's Zebra Trust, they have significantly expanded their community-based conservation model across northern Kenya. By partnering with local communities and supporters worldwide, they’ve strengthened protection for this endangered species, with community teams now monitoring over 10,000 square kilometers of critical zebra habitat. The Grevy's Zebra Trust has made remarkable strides in conservation since receiving initial support from the MBZ Fund, as highlighted in this short video captured during the early days of the original grant, led by Belinda Low Mackey. In a powerful moment for African conservation, in 2024, Belinda passed the torch to LALAMPAA PETER as Executive Director – a testament to GZT's commitment to local leadership and sustainable impact. This collaborative approach has helped create a more secure future for Grevy's zebra. #InternationalZebraDay #MBZFund #conservation #endangeredspecies #wildlifeconservation #biodiversity #uae #Kenya #africa #zebra #wildlife #nature #WildlifeConservation #GrevysZebra #future

🌍 The Fasanara Capital Foundation is honoured to support Synchronicity Earth, a UK-based charity dedicated to addressing critical yet often neglected conservation challenges. Their mission is to protect and restore nature in some of the world's most biodiverse and threatened regions. 🤝 We are excited to announce our recent contribution to their Asian Species Programme, which plays a pivotal role in preserving endangered species in Asia, with a special focus on Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. This programme not only protects species like the painted terrapin, large freshwater turtles and other endangered reptiles, but also empowers local communities by supporting female conservation leaders. By backing non-profits that nurture the next generation of women in wildlife conservation, we are helping to ensure a sustainable future for both our planet and its people. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems and species. 🔗 See here for more information on Synchronicity Earth: https://lnkd.in/eBAgPzqQ 🔗 See here for more information on the Fasanara Foundation: https://lnkd.in/eqgpKTJq Francesco Filia, Greta Renton 🌱 #conservation #biodiversity #wildlifeprotection
