Let’s stop assuming that all women have it worse than the average man. But who is saying that, you say? Multinationals. Provide evidence, you say? Look at the Linked In posts congratulating the "top women in yadda, yadda sustainability" These women, often highly networked, faced their share of setbacks, sure. But we all do. Even men. This isn’t to deny that men often have advantages in the workplace—they do. But highly networked women should not be getting awards. And especially not if they work in sustainability. Awards for women should go to women who are not highly networked who manage to do something important. Getting a job is not important if you relied on your network. Likewise, if you work in sustainability, unless your organization can point to tangible, scaleable emissions reductions and protection of biodiversity no one should get an award. #Sustainability #EqualRecognition #ImpactOverTitles #TangibleResults #EnvironmentalImpact #AuthenticLeadership

🌱 The past decade has seen a proliferation of sustainability-related jobs, with one unexpected but important side-effect: now dominated by women, the role of Chief Sustainability Officer has become a meaningful route for women to take on corporate leadership roles.👩💼 But it’s not all good news. According to the BBC, the advancement of women in the sustainability domain is not being reflected across other C-suite functions. What’s more – thanks to the ‘broken rung’ phenomenon and the ‘widening green-talent gender gap’ – future CSOs will be plucked from companies’ male-dominated talent pipelines. At UNFOLD, we believe that gender and other diversity is fundamental to sustainable business – and must be represented at all levels and in all domains of an organisation. #CorporateAffairs professionals have a key role to play in ensuring their company fulfils its sustainability commitments to people as well as the planet. Do you think there’s a risk of women being ‘pigeon-holed’ into sustainability functions? Or is this a positive sign, given the importance of sustainability issues on the road ahead? Let us know! https://lnkd.in/gPuAWkGy
Are chief sustainability officer jobs women's fast-track to the C-suite?

What a wonderful event and lunch today at the Monash Women’s Business Network with my colleague Shubha Rao and the rest of our firm’s girl gang (they missed the pic). Met so many awesome local women kicking goals in business and was inspiring to hear our speaker from Kandu on the topic of sustainability. My lesson - if you want to make real sustainable change, choose action that aligns with your values and focus on embedding good practice at the heart of your business. 🌍 Women ARE the heart of the green industrial revolution. Cecilia Keating Keating’s speech at the BusinessGreen - Women in Green Business Awards left me with a firm recognition of not only my accomplishments but those of Ariana and the women who not only run businesses but traditionally are mothers, wives, chefs and housekeepers. On top of this, they are pivotal in the transition to a green energy space. Interestingly, the event was held in the historic Grand Connaught Rooms—a place with a rich yet complex history. Once a venue dominated by institutions like the Freemasons and the Football Association (FA). The awards underscored an important truth: while women remain underrepresented in STEM and energy sectors, they are driving crucial innovation and leadership in these areas. In my experience at Renew Consultancy, we’ve seen firsthand how diverse teams, including women, consistently deliver results. Diverse perspectives lead to stronger solutions, particularly in fast-evolving sectors like power generation. At Renew Consultancy, we’re proud to contribute to this transition, helping businesses find top-tier professionals from all backgrounds—because building diverse, inclusive teams is not just about fairness; it’s about staying competitive and innovative. Let’s continue breaking down barriers and ensure women aren’t just participants in the green revolution—they’re leading it. 💪 #WomenInSTEM #GreenBusiness #Sustainability #DiversityAndInclusion #PowerGeneration #FutureOfWork #RenewableEnergy #WomenInEngineering #WomenInBusiness #WomenLeadingEachOther
