‘All women have the right to safety, choice and a voice’ Last night Women on Boards CIC® Founders Sandra Wiggins & Payal Walker attended the UN Women UK Awards 2024, together with some of our fabulous #WOBCIC partners and colleagues Debbie Moore Executive Leadership Coach, Mentor MSc FCIPD, David Hayes, Aarti Parmar, Harpreet S., Fiona McGonigle CMgr MCMI and 🎓 Dr Magdalena Zawisza-Riley (aka Zawisza). And what a wonderful night it was 💫 We heard inspiring stories of resilience, influence and much about the change needed with a refusal to accept the status quo. There were tears of sadness as we heard first hand about the violence against women and girls. We need to collectively keep raising awareness and lead the narrative for gender equality. And finally, this event would not be possible without the vision, time and work put in to make it the success it is. The unwavering #determination, resilience, vision, powerful vulnerability, and depth of #courage shown by the nominees, winners and so many more in the room and beyond is both a cause for celebration and reflection 🙏. Thank you UN Women UK Women on Boards CIC® to all involved for the opportunity to be invited, and to everyone who made the event happen. Learning about insurmountable challenges, in some of the most difficult circumstances brought me to tears, having been on the planet for over six decades now, it’s yet another stark reminder that there is still so much to be done to address inequality and ensure “all women have the right to safety, choice and a voice” Yet, at the same time the energy, dignity and drive to make a difference was deeply present and a huge cause for hope and celebration 🙌 To all the nominees and winners, celebrating and honoring each and everyone of you. Change for the better is catalysed in many different forms, and particularly when collectively there is a deeper desire to make a positive difference to create a fairer society for all. “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much” Helen Keller.
A fabulous Awards Ceremony and a pleasure to share the evening with fellow Women on Boards CIC® colleagues led by Sandra Wiggins and Payal Walker 🙏 It was certainly an evening filled with thought provoking stats, devastating stories, incredible nominees and recipients and moments of hope. It was great to meet you! It’s incredibly inspiring to see so many talented women and men making such meaningful strides. Awards like these not only celebrate the hard work and achievements of women but also remind us of the importance of continuing to support and uplift one another as we break new ground.
