According to the Global Women’s Network for Energy Transition (GWNET) 2023 annual report, women in sustainable energy around the world tend to encounter similar obstacles to their full and equal participation in the sector. This appears mainly due to gender-stereotyping and unconscious bias. Peer-to-peer exchanges quickly reveal the commonality of the challenges and frequently are powerful conduits of courage and hope.

I am very excited about this week's Women in New Energy event, Expro will be hosting a roundtable with our friends from Women in Geothermal on 'Harnessing Earth's Power: Exploring Geothermal Potential and Diversity Opportunities' Last year’s WINE launch was incredible, and I’m excited to keep the momentum going as we work towards a more inclusive energy industry. The recently published Women in the Workplace 2024 report shows just how far we still have to go, especially in the energy sector, where women make up less than 20% of the geothermal workforce. In fact, globally, only 32% of the energy sector are women, and when you look at leadership, just 26% hold Executive or C-Suite roles. These numbers show the challenge we face, but they also highlight the opportunity. The business case for diversity is undeniable: 74% of companies agree that D&I is critical to their success, but only 45% align it with their core strategy. We’re talking about a sector that needs to recruit around 400,000 jobs by 2050, of which 260,000 are new roles. DEI isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s how we fill those roles, close skills gaps, and ensure we thrive. Parity in the workplace benefits everyone—women, men, and businesses. Companies with diverse teams make better decisions, innovate more, and perform better. Let’s make sure the energy industry reflects the future we’re working towards! I want to be a part of building an inclusive industry where everyone can succeed! #WomenInNewEnergy #DiversityMatters #NetZero #InclusiveLeadership #WomenInWorkplace2024 #DiversityInEnergy Beena Sharma Emma Lamont Elisha Drumm Calum Watson

NextEnergy Group's Head of Talent, Zoraida Bejarano joined the WiSEu Network on an expert panel at Solar & Storage Live Barcelona yesterday. The panel explored 'Equality, Diversity and Inclusion as Drivers of Innovation in the Solar and Energy Storage Sector'. Zoraida commented: "It is essential that we foster inclusive workplace environments, identify and address both external and internal barriers that prevent women and minorities from progressing in their careers, and work on initiatives to attract a diverse workforce, especially as Europe's solar workforce is set to triple within the next decade." | #wiseu | #womeninsolar | #womeninsolareurope | #solarstoragelive | #equality | #equalityinsolar | #innovationdrivers | #SSLBarcelona |

March is National Women's Month! As a Solar Energy and Sustainable Living Consultant, I'm proud to celebrate the incredible contributions of women to this field. At the same time, we need to shine a bright light on the lack of women in solar energy. Inspiring women and working toward a more gender-equal workforce of renewable energy consultants would easily "up our game" for the faster widespread adoption of clean energy. Why? Because data ( https://lnkd.in/eyHu4KGc... ) shows that women are more adept with emotional and social competencies for effective leadership and management. And these are exactly the skillsets that frontline solar consultants use daily to provide information, guidance, and support to people who choose to make the switch to clean energy. https://lnkd.in/eyHu4KGc... Here's to breaking barriers and making strides towards a brighter, more inclusive and sustainable future! If you are interested in a career with an inclusive Solar Energy Team, let's chat! #WomenInSolar #SustainableLiving #NationalWomensMonth
