NextEnergy Group's Head of Talent, Zoraida Bejarano joined the WiSEu Network on an expert panel at Solar & Storage Live Barcelona yesterday. The panel explored 'Equality, Diversity and Inclusion as Drivers of Innovation in the Solar and Energy Storage Sector'. Zoraida commented: "It is essential that we foster inclusive workplace environments, identify and address both external and internal barriers that prevent women and minorities from progressing in their careers, and work on initiatives to attract a diverse workforce, especially as Europe's solar workforce is set to triple within the next decade." | #wiseu | #womeninsolar | #womeninsolareurope | #solarstoragelive | #equality | #equalityinsolar | #innovationdrivers | #SSLBarcelona |

March is National Women's Month! As a Solar Energy and Sustainable Living Consultant, I'm proud to celebrate the incredible contributions of women to this field. At the same time, we need to shine a bright light on the lack of women in solar energy. Inspiring women and working toward a more gender-equal workforce of renewable energy consultants would easily "up our game" for the faster widespread adoption of clean energy. Why? Because data ( https://lnkd.in/eyHu4KGc... ) shows that women are more adept with emotional and social competencies for effective leadership and management. And these are exactly the skillsets that frontline solar consultants use daily to provide information, guidance, and support to people who choose to make the switch to clean energy. https://lnkd.in/eyHu4KGc... Here's to breaking barriers and making strides towards a brighter, more inclusive and sustainable future! Over the past two days I had the pleasure of attending the Women in Energy & Renewables Summit with my fellow #AusNet and #Mondo colleagues both from within my business unit and from adjacent teams. We heard from inspirational & industry-leading women about the challenges we face as an industry collective, and the barriers we must continue to remove, particularly for women, to ensure we unlock the diverse talent pools needed to fulfil the substantive jobs required to drive at pace, the #energytransition. To support the transition we need 4x more consumer driven renewables (think solar & EV) feeding into the network, and 3x the current Commercial & Industrial scaled generation (i.e solar/wind/hydro), but without urgently addressing the build out of our Transmission and Distribution networks we will fall short of our targets. Social license was a key theme, and the importance of community engagement. So what does this all mean in terms of careers and opportunities? Yes, Engineers are a given, but there is room for everyone on this renewable journey, from lawyers, marketers, artists and scientists, facilitators and project managers, educators and trainers, if we nail diversity and inclusion EVERYONE can participate in this exciting transition. #WomenInEnergy #EnergyAndRenewables
Some of our AusNet women were lucky enough to attend the inaugural Women in Energy & Renewables Summit in Sydney this week. They had some great conversations around energy demand, capacity forecast and strategies to advance the #energytransition. Yet in 2024 we're still having conversations about driving more #diversity, #equity and #inclusion in our industry. It was a great opportunity to gather with other women across energy and the #renewables sector to learn from the best and drive change. Looking forward to this becoming a regular fixture on the event calendar! Ivy Lun Ana Ruiz Juinn Siew Tao Priya V. From policy to practice: aligning governments, industry, professional networks to champion DEI: In a new article for pv magazine, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu) explains why the renewable energy industry should finally embrace equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEI). "At a micro level, networks like Women in Solar Europe are critical to creating the environments of belonging, psychological safety, and support that individuals need to thrive and contribute to the energy transition," says Carmen Madrid, founder of the WiSEu Network. #RenewableEnergy #Photovoltaic #Technology

Diversity and inclusion are critical in unlocking innovation across the energy spectrum Numerous global studies highlight the critical role that increased diversity and inclusion play in innovation and business success. Despite this, in many sectors, particularly those related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), women remain underrepresented, especially in leadership positions, and face challenges related to equitable opportunities. As the world moves towards more sustainable energy practices, innovation has never been more critical. Success in the goals of just transition and net zero will require diversity and inclusivity to become the rule, rather than the exception, and achieving this will require significant focus on training and upskilling. https://shorturl.at/btYMb Maureen Phiri South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA) Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd Global Solar Council (GSC) Global Renewables Alliance International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) International Energy Agency (IEA) Oxyon People Solutions (Pty) Ltd.

#Event: Suppose they gave an energy transition - and nobody came. Unfortunately, this is not a fantasy for many companies, but the reality on the labour markets. There is already a widespread shortage of skilled labour for technical, scientific and business development, from #renewable energies to #cleantech. It is important to look at things that are obvious - the low number of female employees in these sectors. Not the only reason, but certainly an important lever for improvement. So how can attractive employment opportunities, good framework conditions and career development paths be developed for women in particular? Where do we stand in this respect today after the European Year of Skills? After the Pact for Skills for the Renewable Sector? And with the Net Zero Academies of the #EU’s Net Zero Industry Act? We will discuss this on 13 June 2024 at our expert roundtable "Leveraging women's skills in the energy sector". More information and registration here: https://t.ly/FuPCm Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung
