Young people in the US face layered challenges in accessing sexual and reproductive health services, starting with inconsistent sex education that leaves many uninformed about critical topics. In 2024, we are launching "Asking for a Friend," a digital platform that offers a holistic solution to the problems young Americans face regarding sexual and reproductive health. We codesigned it with 189 youth in the US. Watch as Katie Stahlhuth and Brandon L. Venerable, MPA 🍉explain how Asking for a Friend came to be. The prevalence of underage motherhood in developing countries is a cause for concern. Discussions surrounding sexual and reproductive rights often neglect access to contraceptives, overlooking the crucial need to educate young people about the responsibilities and implications of parenthood. We must address these realities through comprehensive sex education programs. #EqualAccesstoEducation, #GenderEquality, #EarlyMarriageandChildbearing

Through client interactions,i have noticed that many women in their reproductive age do not know their last menstrual period. Though some have raise concerns on period irregularity caused by contraceptives methods, majority have confessed to not knowing how to count their dates. This takes me back to comprehensive sexual education in our schools,if CSE is well taught right from grade 6 when the curriculum introduces menstruation, and teachers properly exhaust the menstrual cycle, dont you think we will have less of these issues in future? Think of it, we will not only have dealt with the issue on dates alone but on reproductive health as well on a very broad aspect. But well...when masses hear about CSE in schools the picture Sex only. SMH 🤔

We hope that more governments practice this. This is what Reetika Verma has to say about Indian society's reaction to buying contraceptives. Youth Ki Awaaz and MTV Nishedh have come together to #TalkNishedh. We want to understand the Indian youth's relationship with contraception and how masculinity impacts their sexual relationships. Read on to see what Reetika has to say. "We are a nation of more than 1.3 billion people. For a country that shies away from talking about sex, Indians are definitely having a lot of it. Despite this, the conversation around contraception continues to invite raised brows. This conversation turns even more hushed when it is centred around women. With these topics still being taboo, buying contraception can be a terrible experience for women." During one of our HealthChat sessions with Nurse Vee, held on 11th October 2024 the International Day of the Girl Child, we visited a Secondary School where we discussed menstrual hygiene, personal hygiene, sexual reproductive health and rights, and comprehensive sex education with the School Girls, a young girl bravely asked about the urges that come with ovulation and wanting to be with a man. This question struck a chord in my heart, highlighting a significant gap in education provided by parents and teachers. Many young girls are left to navigate these natural feelings with little guidance, often turning to the internet, succumbing to peer pressure, or falling prey to irresponsible men who take advantage of their innocence. These girls simply need answers and support, yet they are at risk of sexual molestation or even rape. It's imperative that we, as a community, step up to provide comprehensive education and open discussions about these topics. We must equip our young ones with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their bodies and relationships. **Call to Action:** Let's work together to ensure that our youth receive the education and support they deserve. Parents, educators, and community leaders, let's break the silence and start these vital conversations. Together, we can create a safer and more informed environment for our children. #SexualReproductiveHealth #ComprehensiveSexEducation #YouthEmpowerment #CommunitySupport #BreakTheSilence #HealthChat #NurseVee #Healthchatwithnrsvee

Happy World Sexual Health Day! Let’s talk about why we invest in pleasure 🌸 The Case for Her uses its investments in underfunded areas of women’s health as opportunities to learn. One thing we learned through our menstruation portfolio was that MH educators working in classroom settings were often restricted from discussing sex, even when asked by the girls themselves. Education can be a powerful tool to drive progress for bodily autonomy and sexual and reproductive health and rights, and integration of MHH and SRHR can strengthen understanding of common biological processes across the life course. So in 2019, The Case for Her opened a new portfolio, Female Sexual Pleasure, where we embrace sex-positivity, where sex is seen as a positive, healthy, and natural aspect of human life where people should be able to “embody, explore, and learn about their sexuality and gender without judgment or shame.” What we’ve learned since then is that taking a pleasure-inclusive approach to sexual health and sex education has widespread impacts that result in better uptake of reproductive health products and services and better sexual health outcomes. You can learn more about the benefits or embracing a positive pleasure approach via our incredible partner The Pleasure Project here: https://lnkd.in/dqcFmfDY #SexualHealthMatters #SexEd #PleasureGap #GenderEquality

Providing long-term, core, and flexible funding to Global Network of Sex Work Projects (NSWP) enables them to gather evidence for advocacy on access to sexual and reproductive health rights (#SRHR) for sex workers in all their diversity. In 2023 through a consortium-wide project, supported by Robert Carr Fund, NSWP collected data across 27 countries in four regions, focusing on sex workers' access to social protection and SRHR. This data serves as a powerful tool for communities, enabling them to strengthen advocacy efforts that ensure sex workers’ rights to social protection and healthcare are upheld. Each country developed national reports, which were synthesized into regional reports, culminating in a global report that highlights key findings and paves the way for future advocacy strategies and research. NSWP’s global report is available here: https://bit.ly/3YcJQ9w More highlights from our grantees can be found in Robert Carr Fund's Annual Report 2023 here: https://bit.ly/3ZuGzVy #CommunitiesFirst #SRHR
