My latest interview this week at IDX Channel (Indonesian Exchange) discussing about the “New Gross Split” contract terms and how will it affect Indonesia’s investment climate. We appreciate our government for their effort to improve our investment climate, but this is just a progressive move, what we need is a reformation of the industry as we are behind in our race to attract investors compare to others. Few things I highlighted here: - To boost the development of gas related infrastructures in Indonesia to increase our domestic gas demand. Lower the production and logistic costs are key to increase our competitiveness in the global market too - The government must take back their responsibility over non-technical matter of oil and gas operations such as permitting and lands. O&G companies in Indonesia are PSC “CONTRACTORS” they are NOT supposed to be bothered by non-technical matters, let them focus what they are good at, bringing capital, seek and extract petroleum using their technologies and know-how - Idle fields are to be returned to the government so they can be offered back to investors with PSC scheme, not “Idle Well” nor “KSO” schemes. Estimated more than 80,000Km2 of fields are not being produced to their potential, or not at all. These areas still have huge potential, lots of data and mostly onshore. Pertamina, as a world class NOC should focused on large producing and potential fields so they can thrive even more effectively in the global arena Here's the link to our full discussions: https://lnkd.in/geYjkQmm #oilandgas #indonesia #kemandirianenergi #grosssplit

Japanese oil and gas companies #Japex and #JXNippon Oil & Gas are determined to commercialise and make profitable their proposed carbon capture and storage (#CCS) projects, while also developing their traditional oil and gas businesses. Japex and JX Nippon each has a portfolio of proposed CCS projects at home in Japan and in #Malaysia and #Indonesia. JX Nippon's acquisition of Japan Drilling, an offshore drilling contractor, was partly motivated by being able to drill wells for offshore CO2 storage. JX Nippon's portfolio of proposed CCS projects includes BIGST in Malaysia, Tangguh CCS in Indonesia and the BECCUS projects in Niigata, Japan; plus potential opportunities with Santos and Chevron in Australia. #PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) entered into a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with JX Nippon on 5 December 2022 to collaborate in developing a joint proposal to monetise the gas potential within the Bujang, Inas, Guling, Sepat and Tujoh (BIGST) fields, located offshore Kerteh, Terengganu. The BIGST opportunity was offered as part of Malaysia Bid Round (MBR) 2020, where it had received several proposals from interested parties. The gas supply from BIGST fields is important for Peninsular Malaysia’s energy security given the significant potential that exists within the cluster. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology will be key solutions in monetising the fields since these fields contain high carbon dioxide (CO2) and will be the first CCS project in Peninsular Malaysia

♻️🔱 [ The planning processes for developing and implementing new, innovative technologies like carbon capture and storage (#CCS) in Malaysia take place in quite a complex economic and technical environments. Such planning processes can easily become intangible and intricate due to their multi-level, multi-stakeholder and multi-issue characteristics. Gaining insight into current ongoing #PETRONAS / #MMHE Kasawari CCS Project; which its complexity and dynamics of these processes, can help future developers, decision makers and other key stakeholders involved in developing new CCS (or other innovative energy) projects ] ♻️⚕️ Malaysia's next significant new offshore gas project with an integrated carbon capture and storage solution is set for development by Petronas and #JXNippon Oil & Gas Exploration. The BIGST Cluster offshore Peninsular Malaysia has an estimated recoverable resource of 4 trillion cubic feet but has not been developed due to the high concentration of carbon dioxide CO2 in the gas. Petronas Carigali and JX Nippon Oil & Gas were last month awarded a production sharing contract for the project with 50:50 interests. Petronas said at the time that BIGST "is now primed for development and is the first high CO2 gas development in Peninsular Malaysia, incorporating carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology as part of its value offerings". The BIGST cluster was discovered in the 1970s, and comprises five undeveloped fields — Bujang, Inas, Guling, Sepat and Tujoh.

That's right! Indonesia's state-owned energy giant Pertamina and Conrad Asia Energy, a gas exploration and development company, joined forces to develop natural gas resources in Indonesia's Aceh region. This collaboration focuses on two of Conrad's offshore production sharing contracts (PSCs). Here are some key details about the agreement: #Focus: The project targets gas resources in the Offshore North West Aceh (ONWA) near Meulaboh and the Offshore South West Aceh (OSWA) near Singkil blocks. #Collaboration: Pertamina's subsidiary, Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN), will collaborate with Conrad on a joint study to assess the commercial viability of these gas fields. #Development: The MoU includes exploring the possibility of developing small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure for processing and potentially selling the gas. This agreement is significant for Indonesia's energy security as it aims to unlock the potential of these gas resources and contribute to meeting the country's energy demands.

Attended two very important and insighful Country Sessions at OTC Asia 2024. Yesterday, 28th February at the Malaysia country session and today 29th February at the Indonesia country session. Both sessions touched a lot on energy transition and CCUS however Group CEO of PETRONAS, Tengku Muhammad Taufik, made a very good point that oil & gas is important for energy and job security. In Malaysia, there are at least 200,000 people employed in this sector which contributes to 20% of the nations GDP. We will surely need an energy mix in future versus having renewable energy alone. #otcasia2024

The Japan Organization for Metals & Energy Security (#JOGMEC) is evaluating proposals to line up a consultant to study #upstream oil and gas assets in #Malaysia and #Indonesia that could be attractive to Japanese E&P players such as #Inpex, $Japex, #Mitsui and #Eneos. JOGMEC noted that several Japanese companies are interested in acquiring oil and gas assets in Indonesia and Malaysia that can also supply hydrocarbons to Japan, with a particular focus on either producing fields or existing discoveries that can be exploited via existing infrastructure and come on stream within 15 years. Last year, JOGMEC #Petronas have signed an agreement to cooperate on the transboundary transport and storage of CO2. The agreement was signed on Sept. 27 at the 3rd Asia CCUS Network Forum held in Hiroshima, and will be key to enabling a carbon capture and storage (#CCS) project planned between the two countries, according to the statement. In June, JOGMEC had selected seven projects, including two overseas projects in Malaysia and Oceania, as advanced CCS projects that are expected to start operations by 2030.
