E3 recently supported the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) in developing a congestion cost savings test fit for the ERCOT market. Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO)'s Board of Directors has approved the largest portfolio of transmission projects in U.S. history! This historic plan includes 488 projects spanning over 5,000 miles across 15 states, aimed at strengthening grid reliability and supporting new generation. LRTP Tranche 2.1’s $21.8 billion investment will enhance infrastructure, help meet load growth needs and enable 28 GW of new generation, ensuring a resilient and reliable grid for decades to come. https://ow.ly/O46130sITXy

BREAKING NEWS: The Cardinal-Hickory Creek Transmission line was energized on September 26. The line will carry clean energy across the Midwest, improving grid reliability and helping states reach their clean energy goals. Thirteen years ago, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) assembled a portfolio of 17 high-voltage transmission lines titled Multi-Value Projects (MVP). Cardinal-Hickory Creek was the final MVP line to be energized. At CGA, we are thrilled to see over a decade's worth of work come to fruition, but 13 years is too long to build this crucial infrastructure. As we look toward future transmission projects, like MISO's Tranche 1 portfolio, we will continue to advocate for upgraded transmission across the Midwest. MISO Unveils Draft Proposal for Next Phase in Major Transmission Build 🌐 Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) has just released the details of its Tranche 2 transmission solutions, marking a significant milestone in its Long Range Transmission Planning (LRTP) effort. This portfolio aims to create a regional backbone for meeting long-term energy needs and supporting resource evolution. With an anticipated cost between $17 billion to $23 billion, Tranche 2 expands on member investments to develop robust transmission solutions for the future grid. In October, Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) kicked off its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment, a major step toward smarter grid management for nearly 33,000 members across eight counties. Partnering with NRTC and Itron, Inc., VEC will modernize 40,633 meters over 2,880 miles of line and 2,056 square miles. This initiative aligns with VEC’s commitment to providing efficient, reliable, and innovative service to its members. System acceptance testing is set to begin in early 2025.
