 💡 Top Tip of the Week

 

Learn to set boundaries and say NO.   

  

Our outside world is a direct reflection of what is going on inside us. To change the outside, we’ve got to change our inside first. You cannot blame someone else for overstepping your boundaries if you go along with it. And that includes you overstepping your own boundaries by asking too much of yourself.   You have to take responsibility for your time.   For example:


  • Say NO to checking your phone as soon as you get up.
  • Say NO to working outside of working hours.
  • Say NO to doing things you don’t really want to do.
  • Say NO to spending time with people that don’t float your boat.
  • Say NO to negative self-talk and arguing for your limitations.


So, why is that so difficult? Well, in short… We tend to look for validation outside of ourselves. We seem to have a need to ‘prove’ ourselves, to prove that we are worthy at work with the team, the boss, our colleagues. At home with our partners, kids, friends and so on.   We are worried, especially at work, that if we say 'no' we are not a team player/we might not get that promotion/we think we might even lose our job. NOT TRUE! A number of my ‘employed’ clients dropped to 4 days a week and still got promoted. My business owner clients dropped their working day to 5 or 6 hours and grew their business significantly.   Unless you value your time, no one else will either. One of the first things I help my clients with is recognising and appreciating their own value. To realise they and their wellbeing are super important. For themselves and for the people in their life.   Once you value yourself and your time, it becomes easy and natural to set your boundaries. And guess what? Everyone else around you will fall in line! And guess another what? You’ll be way more focused in your working hours, so you'll get much more done in a shorter amount of time.

I recorded a podcast with one of my ex-clients and a new client. The topic was leadership and change management in a high pressure, complex corporate environment. Broadcast date TBC – watch this space!

 

Super excited about that! We talked about:


  • how mindset and mentorship play an important part in empowering leaders and teams
  • critical success factors in today’s fast changing world and how leaders can foster those in themselves and their teams
  • the biggest mistakes organisations make in leading change
  • strategies for leading effective changes


Attended the Chester Business network lunch and Cheshire Small Business online network event. Great to see familiar faces and some new ones too!

Super important to surround ourselves with likeminded people. We are the average of the 5 people we hang around with most. If you hang around with 5 criminals, you’ll be the 6th If you hang around with 5 close minded people, you’ll be the 6th If you hang around with 5 successful people, you’ll be the 6th You get the gist!   Who are you hanging around with? 😉

 

 

🧭 Your quest for the next two weeks (& beyond)...

 

Value yourself!   Every day:

- Write down 3 things you appreciate about yourself. - Write down 3 things you are good at. - Write down 3 things you did that made a positive difference. - Every day do 1 thing that needs to be done, 1 thing for someone else and 1 thing for yourself.

Do it for a week and watch what happens. Then keep doing it!
