It was the best of times

when I met his goodness.

I never thought that it would happen to a woman like me. I was a little apprehensive, to begin with. I was not used to being addressed by a gentleman of that caliber.

It touched my soul right away. Or come to think of it, it felt as if it was reviving my dormant spirit. I was like an old dried out desert flower that had not been nurtured for a very long time.

But not long after I was slowly getting used to the many new words that hit me right at the core of my heart. I meticulously took every letter of every word and dissected them to make it easier for my gut to digest them. They were like pure golden honey to my inner child.

Some words were easier to swallow than others. Words like precious, my beloved, predestined, approval, and my full potential were the most solid. They were like a very healthy meal, with vitamins, minerals, and all the best ingredients that would nourish my soul for a very long time. In other words, slow-cooked soul food.

As I thought it could not get better he added some sweet cherries on top of it all, his mercy. Round warm, spicy, and fresh every morning. I sensed something like a burning desire moving up from my feet up through my spine and broke at the chest area.

A song found its way a melody a tune with passionate lyrics I had never heard before. I wanted to stop because it took me by surprise but I couldn't. When I looked at him I saw his face glowing. He told me that it sounded like a tropical rain shower.

Before I knew it the sky was filled with angelic beings who were humming the same melody like a river wild flowing in the desert. New life sprouted everywhere it flowed. The sound of the river aligned with the rhythm and the birds in the sky did too.

It was as if I had been on a journey, I was refreshed, revived, and recovered from my various infirmities.

I ran back home and shared my experience with as many as possible. I was now the change that I and my neighborhood had been waiting for, for a very long time. We had been waiting for someone else to come and help us out, but that someone was me. I am the one.
