Business and Love 💕

February - the month where we honor and celebrate - LOVE!

Why not explore what this means in a BUSINESS context?

Sure - it’s a little cheesy as a theme for the month; but I promised I’d work on showing you all more of who I am, and I am a pretty cheesy person :-).

I have had the experience in my business coaching, where until people recognize that LOVE DOES have a place in business - they are unhappy, unfulfilled and feeling a bit lost about how to serve, sell or even earn.

We have different kinds of love - brotherly love (Philia), romantic love (Eros), family love (Storge), and love of mankind (Agape).   So not every kind of love is appropriate in the business context.

However, when we are able to embrace Philia and Agape love as part of our business process, many people completely SAIL into their business success.  So much clarity can come from understanding:

PEOPLE ARE THE PRIMARY ASSET!

And people crave and need connection, love, trust, community, and belongingness.

When business owners only see their business as a means to an end - they feel unfulfilled.

When they only focus on profitability - they run the risk of becoming broke millionaires (someone with piles of money, but nobody to share it with in their lives and experiences).

If they only see their clients as dollar signs - they develop commission breath and tend to push people away, or at least make people incredibly uncomfortable.

If they see their team as a way to EARN more - or someone to give all the tasks to that they hate; then they struggle with loyalty to the business, culture in the company and retention.

If they lose sight of how their FAMILIES can actually support the business at home and the connection between their care to them and their business success - they tend to experience burnout or feel like they are failing everywhere.

If they don’t learn to love THEMSELVES and confidently own their power as a business owner - they struggle with confidence, self-worth, self-doubt and imposter syndrome.

Love shows up in so many ways in business, as it does in life.

When we begin to understand more deeply - that the clues to the secrets of business success are really mirrored beautifully in how we achieve life success - we can start to tap into the magic and power and possibilities.

Love is about the connection between other people - and so - if we can practice focusing as a shift on how we can serve, give, and honor OTHERS - we can take the pressure off of ourselves and begin focusing on who we serve, who we collaborate with, who we connect with and our community.

Sometimes the step of SELF love is a very difficult step for individuals - so beginning with the awareness of business being about creating value for other people - and finding ways to create those loving, caring, trusting, honoring experiences with them - can be a great place to start.

One of my favorite business acronyms from the teachings of my mentor and teacher Steve D’Annunzio from Mission Driven Advisor is - L.O.V.E.

An important awareness point in this process is that value lives in the mind of the OTHER person.  Said differently - different people want and need different things to feel loved!

To hear more about what this looks like in practice and for an exercise you can try with your family, your staff/team and your clients - make sure to listen to this month’s mini-podcast attached to this newsletter!

Have a wonderful February - and much LOVE to you and yours,
