Criticism Creates Problems: Negative Mindset

Criticism Creates Problems: Negative Mindset

I never make mistakes and have the ability to find faults in anybody and express the same then and there. I don’t have fear or embarrassment to say the truth. Who cares what happens afterward?

Such dialogues are commonly said by those who have a goal for corrections everything in any situation. Feedback objectives could be to correct the behavior and attitude of an individual but they affect others behavior. It is called as the criticism.

The criticism brings a lot of disturbance, angriness, defensiveness, fragile contact, etc. During the criticism, one wants to improve and the other takes a corner of defensive bias. The situation converts into unkindness. . One unkind sign injects an unhappy thought.

Is it true that criticism always brings unhappiness? The answer is not at all. Constructive criticism is a power pack that helps a person improve skill, attitude, and performance and reach the highest level of success. It also supports building trust, improving relationships, and raising awareness.

Therefore, criticism itself is required for individual growth and success. The only thing is how we handle the criticism.

Destructive criticism brings the following;

  1. Spreading Negation
  2. Challenge Comfort Zone
  3. Angriness
  4. Anxiety
  5. Frustration
  6. Depression
  7. Low self-esteem
  8. Losing Confidence
  9. Self-Guilty
  10. Losing Relationship

Constructive criticism is found to be a great kick when an individual's mindset is positive and they receive the criticism constructively. Constructive criticism is a catalyst for growth and development. Constructive criticism is a SWOT analysis tool to improve overall performance. The criticism represents the prism spectrum of human behavior and the culture of a system.

Here are 12 tips for constructive criticism:

1.  Self-awareness

Constructive criticism is the mirror image of our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). Each dives into the subject to look the things differently and understand how others oversee the same thing. Constructive criticism forces us to utilize available resources to solve the challenges. Such self-awareness hooks up our strengths/abilities for further modifications and approaches for improvements and finally leads towards our own growth, development, and success. Self-awareness teaches us to behave properly with other’s opinions.

2.  Action instead of Reaction

Constructive criticism teaches us to plant change seeds for appropriate actions to remove the point of criticism instead of reacting and justifications for the gap. Removal of any challenge is possible by planning actions and their implementation. Actions toward criticism eliminate them permanently.

3. Reorient goal

Confirmatory biasing that there is no hope for change is a common perception. Constructive criticism is the reorienting process for us and the system. Constructive criticism is brought out with references to individual’s and organization’s goals and motivates actions to align with the goals.

4. Focus on strength

Constructive criticism is a catalyst for the strength of the individual and spraying air to remove dust. It reiterates solutions instead of talking about problems.  The criticism removes the complacent behavior and challenges the acceptance. Criticism put a kick to refocus towards strengthen the goal achievement.

5. Train to respond

Constructive criticism transforms us into good listeners and responds after in-depth analysis. Criticism transforms us for acceptance of weakness and is a better responder than the reactive. Constructive criticism encourages us to make a roadmap to achieve the goal while keeping in mind the critique criteria.

6. Makes kinder

Initially, criticism creates a negative bias for criticism and overlooks the positive points of feedback but slowly it changes thoughts for the improvement. Anger and anxiety slowly vanish from thoughts and behavior which makes us kinder from our previous self-version. A kind person can achieve any goal of life by the skill and attitude.

7. Change Perspectives

Constructive criticism brings new dimensions of perspectives and substitutes for the same matter. By accepting the criticism, an individual has an open, broadened, and diversified attitude deeper insight, and overall change in perspective of the situation. Such changes in perspectives cultivate acceptability, adaptability, innovatively, kindness, creativity, and vision to redefine skill and behavior towards solutions instead of problems.

8.   Acceptance of +ve and –ve

I am perfect in the world and no match exists like me is a common fallacy. Criticism is initially opposed to accepting the –ve against our self. We want to listen good and appreciation about me only. Everybody appreciated me till now is self-confirmatory bias. But during process of the criticism, slow insights into our weaknesses allow to see inside. Such thoughts start accepting the -ve and +ve for ourselves to transform kinder from previous version.

9. Growth Mindset

Unless we don’t appreciate the criticism, a growth mindset keeps away from growth and prosperity. Feedback or criticism is one of the best constituents and is accepted uniformly. Criticism is one of the gadgets which can perceive and analyze the left out weakest corner and provide the best strategic solution for improvements. I consider the criticism as fuel to failure.

10. Resilience

Criticism is a building block of resilience towards the betterment. Constructive criticism identifies the domain of improvement and motivates individuals to come out from the comfort zones. Criticism is one of the bounce-back techniques to bring back individuals from failure and embrace the setbacks. Criticism forces individuals to “I can do” from “I can’t do”. This “I can do” is resilience for the personal growth.

11. Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence plays a major role in accepting and appreciating the criticism. Such emotional intelligence requires control of good and bad emotions, kindness, empathy, other perspectives, and processing the hidden messages. Such behavioral change builds long-lasting acceptance, interpersonal relationships, and communication skills, and enhances personal and professional growth.

12. Continual Improvement

Constructive criticism develops improvements by active participations in feedback and implementing corrective mechanisms and finally to the culture. Continual improvement refines the actions from all directions and dimensions with the kindness. Such kind culture is superior for individuals and systems. A positive mindset for constructive criticism brings growth and thrives in personal and professional life.
