Eating FLIES opened my eyes!

Eating FLIES opened my eyes!

First of all, I’m so glad that the idea of me eating flies intrigued you enough to stop in and read.

I’m sure you are curious about what happened. Here is the story.

I stopped in at a restaurant that my friend recommended on the way to a ball game. The outside was worn-down, super shabby and looked like something you would see in a horror film! No joke.

My gut was saying, “Hell no. Tina. Walk. Away.” My head was saying, “Trust your friend’s judgment. Don’t be critical. Stop analyzing.”

So, I’m eating my frozen chicken breast dinner off a dirty table, took a sip of my drink, and then something unexpected happened. I felt little chunks in my mouth. If you have a weak stomach, brace yourself. I felt the tip of my tongue to find fruit flies with wings, might I add, IN-MY-MOUTH! I was terrified to look into my glass and ever so slowly, I did… praying that it was just a fluke. Oh No!!! There was no fluke but there were hundreds of tiny little flies in my WINE!

Ok. It’s not the fruit flies in my wine that was the issue–ok it was a little. I almost vomited to be honest, but it was the inner knowing that I dismissed that was the real issue. My intuition initially told me I shouldn’t have gone into that restaurant and I ignored it. I didn’t want to be there and my head told me I was “wrong”. “Wrong” is the ego talking. Sound familiar?

Let my lesson be your blessing. That day I got to look within and ask the questions I was avoiding. It changed my life.

  • I started noticing how my guilt stopped me from listening.
  • It taught me that worrying about what others think, stopped me from listening.
  • It taught me that personal judgments of myself stopped me.

I was giving my power away and didn’t realize it.  Let’s hone in on your skills so you don't end up eating flies or get into even more troublesome situations.

First, a question….Is there something inside you that tries to shift you in a certain direction? Maybe a business venture?

A personal development class or an activity that you keep thinking about and your brain loads up with all the excuses going against your intuitive thoughts?

I don’t have the time.

I can’t afford it.

I can’t be away from my family.

It’s not the right time.

My fly-eating story is just one of the many times in my life that I denied my inner, intuitive, power. Einstein was a genius and even he knew the power of listening. These are the insights I got that I want to share with you and hopefully when you have that feeling in your belly, you will think of me eating flies and pay attention. So how do we amp up your intuition to access your personal power? Keep reading to find out.

Here are 3 ways to tap into your intuition today!

  • SLOW THE “F” DOWN:

If you took offense to the letter F, get over yourself- lovingly. You know you are running on autopilot to get things done. The thought of you slowing down might seem so foreign and it is possible. You deserve to enjoy life too- in addition to all your ambitious goals. If you feel like you can’t slow down it is time to ask yourself why? Go deep and get to the source. Ask yourself these questions?

Where am I running to?

What is my gut trying to tell me?

What will it take to slow down?

The answers are inside. Just ask the questions.

  • LISTEN TO YOUR GUT:

Your body has an innate wisdom. The gut doesn’t lie. Notice the feelings and the sensations. You can still use your thinking skills and analytical mind to make judgment calls and notice the difference when you are trying to talk yourself out of listening to your intuition. Look what happened when I talked myself into it. Need I say more?

  • BE CURIOUSLY ENGAGED WITH PEOPLE

Notice the change in their tone and their body language. Notice how people might be feeling and have the courage to check out if your experience of the situation is true. You have no idea how many times in coaching calls I ask questions like, “Tell me about a time when you…”  Subtle shifts in body language become intuitive superpowers when you choose to tune in. It also builds connection.

Your intuition is your superpower. The more intuitive you are, the better you become at decision making. Being decisive means you trust yourself and have faith that you are being led in the right direction.

How does re-connecting to that innate nature inside of you that you’ve been hiding for so long sound?

Let’s do it–together!

To learn more, let’s talk.

Tina, what a beautiful reflexión about the difference of “Busyness” and paying attention to our intuition. We all have it…it’s just they at times we are not listening.

Great post, even for someone with as sensitive reaction to this kind of thing as I have, Tina. I love the "Let me lesson be your blessing". Great turn of phrase.
