Entertainment complexes are coming to town!

The Sydney and The Edge, which are being developed by Palmer Development Group on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land on 90th Street along Loop 101, are now being listed by Marti Weinstein of DIVERSIFIED PARTNERS, LLC .

A major anchor to The Sydney — a more than $100 million project — is Reverb by Hard Rock Cafe Scottsdale. Hard Rock announced earlier this month that the five-story, 168-key hotel will open spring or summer of 2026. Joining the Reverb are a pair of nighttime entertainment concepts in The Rustic and Pickle & Social.

"We're going to be changing the face of entertainment for Scottsdale, and there's going to be a lot to do for people that don't fit into Old Town or don't fit into Kierland. ... I've worked all over the country — it's the most underserved area, from an entertainment perspective, that I've ever seen."

Written by Angela Gonzales : Peter Fine reflects on 24 years, 95 quarterly board meetings as retirement from Banner Health looms

After 24 years leading the state's largest health system, Peter Fine is on the brink of retiring as CEO.

He just completed his 95th and final quarterly board meeting at Banner Health this month, to be followed by his last leadership conference on June 27. His last day on the job is June 30.

"I feel good about my decision, but it's a little surreal, how fast 24 years went," Fine said.

Banner had $1.2 billion in revenue and 12,000 employees when Fine took over in 2000. It's now a $14.5 billion organization with 55,000 employees.

Looking back over the past 24 years, Fine said his most rewarding experience happened during the coronavirus pandemic.

“When we told the board in the March board meeting of 2020 what was happening when we all started to recognize how this thing was spreading like wildfire and what this was going to mean, the board said to us two things. They said save as many lives as you can and protect our people. Those were the only two mandates they gave us. "I was proud of the board. They didn't talk about collecting bills. I walked away from that meeting with a quiver in my voice."

Sisters Janice Utke , left, and Jenna Biancavilla founded Svvy® .

The Phoenix-based company developed a platform that leverages an advanced algorithm and a quiz to connect women with experienced financial experts in the Valley.

The decision to start Svvy was also personal. The sisters' aunt encountered a situation in which her funds were allocated into "unsuitable investments" that nearly derailed her retirement plan.

“(The quiz) is very short and asks some questions about their lifestyle, interests and financial goals. Then, it will match them with local advisers who meet their needs."
