FINDING JOY

FINDING JOY

I AM A STREETWALKER! As someone who is prone to clumsiness, it's for my own safety. Every morning, when I'm walking in my neighborhood, I choose to walk in the street because I don't want to trip on any of the uneven sidewalks. As of late, I've been entertaining myself during my walks by kicking acorns down the street to see how far they'll go. It's one of those things that puts a smile one my face. Plus, it helps me keep my pace so I can do my 15-minute miles...especially with the inclines of the streets.

Since I choose to walk in the streets, I have to pay extra attention to my surroundings. I have to be more aware of the cars, trucks and buses that are driving on the roads. Also, I have to be on the lookout for deer, turkeys, dogs, and any other creature that may want to join me on my walk.

In recent weeks, I've especially enjoyed my morning walks because the children are outside waiting for their school bus and I get to tell them to make it a great day. Also, I get to pet the dogs that are being walked. All of this is joyful to me.

Additionally, there are other benefits of my morning walk. Studies have found that one hour of brisk walking can increase your life expectancy by two hours. Regular morning walks can also help you:

  • Feel better
  • Lower your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and certain types of cancer
  • Clear your mind
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Increase your energy
  • Improve memory and lower your risk of dementia
  • Boost your your mental and emotional health
  • Prevent weight gain

As you can see, walking is a great way to start to the day. Typically, when I get back home from my brisk walk, I'm on a high. A high vibrational frequency. It sustains me for a while, but sometimes, I allow other things come into my life that negatively impact my energy.

Earlier today, I was on social media and saw a notification from one of my Facebook friends who had responded to a comment I made to her. She had been arguing with someone about the "P" word...POLITICS. In love, I commented for her to not to waste her time arguing because nothing she said was going to change the mind of the person who made the post initially. She responded by agreeing with me and thanked me for reeling her back in.

Not more than 5 minutes later, I almost found myself in a similar situation as my Facebook friend. Someone had commented something I found to be ignorant and I really wanted to address it. Fortunately, I didn't. But it did cause me to ask myself, "Why? Why do I feel the need to address it? Is it because of my emotions? My ego?" Who knows? I had to chuckle because I couldn't believe I almost allowed myself to get caught up in the same foolishness, too. I know better than to let someone hijack my emotions, especially when it comes to politics. I'm choosing decency and joy in this upcoming election, but whatever other people choose is their choice. And I respect the fact that we all have the right to vote for whomever we see fit.

After thinking about this situation, I realize how we have to consciously be aware of our surroundings....just like I am when I'm walking in the streets, looking around for automobiles and animals. We have to be more aware of who and what we allow to have access to us. I should've never allowed myself to almost be involved in a conversation that wasn't worth my time. Instead of allowing myself to be surrounded by people or situations that create low vibrational energies in like fear, anger and guilt, I need to consciously choose to live in expansive, high vibrational energies like joy, love and gratitude.

The following is a visual of a vibration chart. This tool used to represent and categorize different vibrational frequencies associated with emotions, thoughts and states of being. These charts often depict a spectrum of vibrations, usually ranging from low to high frequencies.

The unit of frequency is hertz (Hz)

The chart maps specific emotions or states of consciousness to corresponding vibrational frequencies, showing how certain feelings can affect your overall energy.

As you can see, low vibrations are associated with negative emotions such as fear, anger, guilt, and shame. When we operate from these frequencies, there's a dense energy. It doesn't serve us to operate from this place because it causes us to live a constricted life.

On the contrary, high vibrations are associated with positive emotions such as love, joy, gratitude, and peace. When we operate in a high vibrational frequency, we are living a more expansive life. We feel lighter and free to be our true selves.

This vibration chart serves as a helpful guide yourl ooking to enhance your emotional and energetic well-being.

Here are seven (7) strategies to increase your vibrations.

  1. Breathe: Stay connected to the present moment.
  2. Practice Gratitude: Reflect on what you’re thankful for.
  3. Engage in Positive Activities: Spend time doing things you love, such as hobbies or exercise.
  4. Mindfulness and Meditation: These practices can help center your mind and elevate your energy.
  5. Be Generous: This behavior help you feel good about yourself.
  6. Be One with Nature: This helps increase your cognitive function and your sense of well-being.
  7. Surround Yourself with Positivity: Choose to be around uplifting people and environments. Don't get caught up in the negative rhetoric...especially during this political season.

If you want to be free and live a more fulfilling and connected life, do whatever is necessary to cultivate a higher vibrational state.
