The Girl Who Feeds Spiders

The Girl Who Feeds Spiders

Have you ever thought about how the tiny actions you take add up to the person you truly are?

Who you think you are and who you really are could be entirely different.

Understanding yourself starts with looking at your behaviours.

Looking at the actions you take (when no one else is around)

It’s the small things that matter.

Like the girl who feeds spiders.

Why does she bother to pick up the fly the spider dropped?

Placing it on the ledge where the spider waits.

Why does she spend an hour with the tired bee?

Patiently trying to give it sugar water to revive it.

What makes her do this, when no one else can see?

Maybe she recognises the need to help others.

Maybe she distracts herself from overwhelming thoughts.

Maybe her purpose is to help everyone thrive, regardless of size.

She doesn’t really know.

Yet she recognises that it’s the small things that matter.

The beautiful poem left for her on a voice message.

The text of support received.

The friend reaching out to say let’s connect more.

The friend who helps out with a school run.

It’s the small things.

So let me leave you with this …

Do the small thing today.

Leave that message. Feed that spider. Move your body more than yesterday.

Whatever it may be because the small things really do add up.

Until next time

Claire
