How to 10x on Twitter (without getting lucky).

Audience.

Before digging into growth hacks, content strategy, & engagement tactics, you must start with your target audience(s) & how you can best serve them.

Who are they? How do they use Twitter? When are they most active? What interests them most? Really get to know them.

Value Proposition.

You should identify what you're uniquely positioned to share with your target audience(s)

Why should people follow you? Why should they care? What value do you have to offer? Why do you even want to grow your audience and/or engagement?

Profile Optimization.

Think of your bio as a sales pitch aimed at people in your target audience. What words or phrases are aligned with your brand but also signal to your audience that you would be a great addition to their network on Twitter. Be concise, clear, and on-brand.

Pinned Tweet.

If your bio is the sales pitch then think of your pinned tweet as the closer. Some of the best accounts on Twitter use the pinned tweet to share their best piece of evergreen content that provides a ton of value. Including humor, insights, relatable tweets, etc.

Growth Hacks.

My favorite growth hack is reverse engineering content & target profiles by using the search bar on Twitter. I'll simply go to the search bar & type in words like “Entrepreneur” to find similar profiles & build relationships by joining the convo. Do this at scale.

Growth Hacks pt. 2.

Another hack that works really well is something I call the “billboard strategy”. If your tweet were a billboard, then you’d want to make sure that it gets the most visibility, right? If it were in person then this would be by a busy freeway in the city. Online, this converts to finding content with really high engagement/visibility and placing your “Billboard Tweet” there underneath it. Use the search bar hack to find the highest engaging content that is also aligned with your audience. Do this at scale.

"Billboard Tweet" explained.

You post something funny or value-add under a tweet with 68k engagements. Hundreds or thousands of ppl see it, like your tweet, then proceed to check out your profile. If your profile is optimized & your content is great, some will convert to follow.

Content Strategy.

Your content strategy should be tailored to your brand, value prop, & target audience. This could mean sharing daily insights about the benefits of a product you offer. Or sharing your journey as an entrepreneur & your learnings. Experiment & ask for feedback.

Content Cadence.

There is no secret to the number of tweets per day that will help your account grow. But I have seen that consistency & high-quality content Is vital for your success. I recommend you aim for 3 tweets per day then scale up or down once it's become a habit.

Driving Sales.

One of the most efficient ways of generating leads is w/ “Social Selling”. This means developing relationships at scale w/ the use of social networks. A few tactics that work well include: Building in public, generating social proof, time-constrained offers, etc.

Engagement Strategy.

A major part of your growth on Twitter will come from how active you are on the platform. This doesn’t mean being active for hours, rather, being strategic w/ your time & the types of comments you make. 15-30 mins spread throughout the day works just fine.

My Strategy (summarized).

  • be personable
  • add value
  • don't take yourself too seriously
  • have fun on the platform
  • post frequently, but don't be annoying
  • engage in the feed daily
  • share stories and insights
  • keep your audience top of mind
  • give 5x more than you ask

I truly hope that you found this thread to be helpful.

I share a lot more of my growth hacks, content strategy, favorite tools, and a step-by-step walkthrough of how I personally use the platform in my playbook.
