Man in the Mirror.

Man in the Mirror.

Coming from a military background, I have always held self-discipline and self-respect as the key components to being a man, a Father, and a Leader.

I've had non-negotiables for years, and I know now what it is on an hourly, daily and weekly basis the exact tasks and habits that keep me ahead.

Today, more than ever, it is evident that people benefit from accountability to get anywhere close to their dreams, both in their lives, or their careers.

If I have learned anything, it is that the best person to hold you accountable, is yourself.

Cultivating a daily self-reflection ritual can increase discipline, help you grow in confidence, push boundaries, and ultimately move the needle towards what you want to achieve.

By setting goals and deadlines for ourselves, and putting it upon ourselves to take action on them, we can develop the momentum needed to see results, clear our lists, and to stay focused and on track.

Getting caught up in 'busy work', 'admin tasks' or 'procrastinating', can squander the opportunity to be doing the real work, the deep work, the hard work that will move your forward 10 fold both in your career, and in life.

A simple strategy is to create daily lists, and prioritize the most impactful tasks, the hardest tasks, and do them first, and early in the day. This will give you a sense of accomplishment, keep your mind clear, and set you apart from your competition. It starts you on a personal winning streak.

Avoiding tasks that are too hard, difficult or uncomfortable is 'task avoidance' and a key indicator of a lack of genuine drive, mental fortitude, or any real grit to make life work for you, and to win.

Taking time to self-reflect on your day, and your week, can be a game changer, and the impact it can have on your career and your life can be profound.
