The Manager Responsibility: Ability + Response
Everyone is a human being and as human being we have some basic needs that are our first priority, on top on that we build up our social image and our working image.
We base our social profile on our social skills, on our social abilities and our moral compass.
We build our professional profile on our working skills, on the know-how we have acquired during long years at school and in our previous jobs.
In any case, these 3 components they live always in us, they interact on us and we have to be aware of these. The balance we build on these 3 elements is the cornerstone of ourselves.
As manager: people or project, we have to develop a specific set of abilities and be aware of our responsibilities vs our team to take the right path the first time right.
When we develop the model for our responsibilities and accountability we need to:
- set up the moral compass: normative ethical standards for ourselves and the team
- adopt a process based approach to reach results
- develp a proper management system that is built up on rules, agreements, signs, symbols and tools that we use together with the team. In doing this we shall develop process maps and we share it together with the stakeholders to show how we build values for the project, for the company, for the team and for the customers.
In the process above what is crucial is always the way how we take decisions or how we elaborate responses. We have to dig up on the key elements we adopt in decisions making and planning responses to the possible issues because if we have a clear perception of it we can correct our management style, we can improve it and make it more effective.
Currently there are many models, but as person we should always remember that we are always people and we have to elaborate our choices by respecting this point and the single individuality of each one of us. Within the team we need to develop paradigms that will help us to incorporate the company values in the team, the project scope in the project team and to drive the team to a win - win situation

Conclusions
As managers we have to build up our identity by knowing ourselves, set up a management system, build up an approach based on synergy within our team. We are accountable and responsible for the success of our team and to do so we need to build up a strong set of skills for ourselves and our team.
