The more you worry, the less of everything you get except stress

I went to get the result of my annual health check up today at the clinic nearby. Not so fun fact: this clinic is located in an office building which recently had one case of coronavirus. I still decided to go because I wanted to know my health status and everyone is still working there as usual. My colleague told me to wear a mask and not touching anything when I was there. I followed accordingly.

As the review of my health result with the doctor came to the end and given the pretty good result (in a nutshell, I need to exercise more and eat less! Other than that, I’m pretty healthy! Yay!), I asked the doctor if she was scared of the coronavirus case in the building. Her reply was gold indeed.

First she said “listen, I work in a hospital, where the germs and virus live.” I already laughed at her answer agreeingly and then she said “Plus, worrying brings down my immune system!”. How true it is! The more we worry, the more stress we get and as a result our immune system will be weakened and more opportunities for the virus to attack us!

I left the clinic not only feeling healthier but also happier. I’m so grateful to meet this wise and optimistic doctor. We need more doctors like her who can help their patients get better not just physically but mentally and emotionally. The mental trauma is way worse than physical pain. You can not recover if you keep worrying about your imaginary illnesses or paranoid about any slightest symptoms.

Don’t get me wrong. We need to do everything we can to keep well and protect us from coronavirus. It’s the right thing to do for ourselves and people around us. But please don’t get panic or paranoid. It helps literally no one. It just causes more panic and stress for you and everyone else.

I wish you strength and courage to let go of your fear with love. I know you can do it and still are amazingly healthy. Believe me, your immune system will be grateful to you forever :)
