Present with IMPACT, or present to TRANSFORM?
So, what do you think? Should your main goal be to present with impact, or present to transform?
Before I tell you what I think, let me tell you a story.
I have been following a great marketing guy from Montreal for quite a few years now; his name is Danny Iny. I don't even remember how I first connected with him, but I do remember being very intrigued by his business name at the time: Firepole Marketing. How could a firepole be related to marketing? Maybe the "urgency" I felt to change how I did marketing at the time resonated with me. LOL
Anyhow, past that first hook I did discover a friendly, down-to-earth guy that was delivering quality information. Even in my most robust unsubscribing sprees to give me breathing space in my inbox, Danny's emails remained. When he rebranded his company to Mirasee, I quickly recognized I was getting the same quality and high-value information. Even though I was many times guilty of not reading or applying enough of his wisdom. ;-)
A few months ago, Mirasee got my attention with a very innovative experience: their online Business Ignition Bootcamp. Wow! That was business skills learning on steroids with a great community experience! So when he invited participants to attend his live 3-day LIFT event in Montreal, I just could not miss the opportunity.
So, evening of April 18, I arrived at the venue for early registration thinking I would have a valuable business experience. I was really impressed by the organization, the attention to detail and the friendliness of the whole team. Every effort was made to help us feel welcomed and facilitate networking with others. I left that night thinking the conference would be very different from some I attended in the past.
From the first day to the last, I was amazed at how well I felt understood as an entrepreneur and how the message strongly resonated with me. For the first time in my entrepreneur life, I felt the host had a perfect sense of my pains, my strugles and my aspirations for my business. His authenticity and willingness to share his own journey, equally talking about challenges and victories, helped me relate... and grow! It made me want to take action in a totally new and bolder way. Danny and the whole Mirasee team got me on a 3-day journey to transform me as an entrepreneur. **Hey, ACES Club peeps, can't wait to start my journey with you. :-)**. I want to publicly acknowledge and thank EVERY team member at Mirasee. Also, Danny and Bhoomi, you made my leap of faith easier to handle. Raj, thanks for the nudge and believing in me.
So, I guess by now you probably know what is my answer to the above question "Present with IMPACT, or present to TRANSFORM?". Yes, it's definitely, without the slightest doubt: Present to TRANSFORM! I have always been a strong advocate of my colleague Nancy Duarte's work about visuals, message & storytelling, and making your audiences embark on a transformative journey. I always knew it made sense. I knew it worked and helped presenters/speakers be more impactful. But now I REALLY experienced it. Now I know how being part of a transformative journey can make people feel. How it can make us take action at a totally new level.
In a way, "being" impactful is focussing a bit more on ourselves, the speakers. Thinking about how we can bring our audience on a journey that transforms them puts the focus back on their fears or challenges, their need for change.
So, will you have the guts to present to TRANSFORM? Yes, it will take you more time in the beginning. But I can guarantee you the results are so worth it and rewarding.

6yI love it! Thank you so much for sharing the experience Chantal. It sounds like the place to be for entrepreneurs the next time it comes around. As for impact vs. transform, when you transform that creates a heck of an impact. 😊
