Reinvent the post-pandemic world with WomenEntrepreneurs4Good

A Collective Initiative powering female entrepreneurs in Green Transition

We are living in a peculiar moment in the history, a moment that calls for reinvention, for newness, and for a new normal. The pandemic has affected economic activity worldwide, and women-led businesses were particularly stricken with the added toll, leaving 90% of them having experienced a significant decrease in revenues[i]. Yet only 10% of the fiscal and economic measures taken by 130 countries to help businesses through the crisis were directing resources to women-dominated sectors[ii].

We need to recognize that women are not only at the frontline taking care of children, family, elders, and the most vulnerable population during the crisis; women are also the driving force behind our advancement in innovation, science, research, policy development, governments to fight the pandemic. They are a powerful and underutilised engine of growth that we need to unleash to build back better.

An analysis by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) shows that if women and men participated equally as entrepreneurs, global GDP could rise by up to 6%, boosting the global economy by $5 trillion[iii]. However, unleashing the power of women entrepreneurs will require collaboration from different stakeholders, including venture capitalists, nonprofit organizations, and corporations. Now more than ever, when the crisis is threatening to widen the gender gap and exacerbate the challenges that women entrepreneurs are often facing, such as lack of funding, lack of networks, and market saturation, we need to act. We cannot afford to lose momentum towards gender equality. We need to join forces and support women entrepreneurs, as they are catalysts to accelerate a more sustainable and better future for all of us.

This year, the Women’s Forum stands ready to lead with power and purpose, through a She-covery that leaves no one behind. While we are committed to forge ahead with our long-term mission to bring forward women’s strong added value, innovative thinking, creativity throughout the private and public sectors, the Women’s Forum has decided to take an immediate concrete action to support women entrepreneurs and put them at the heart of the economy. Women’s skills and capacity to drive innovation and efficiency are not only important but also essential assets for the She-Covery we are calling for.

Within the framework of Women4Business Daring Circle, the Women’s Forum, in collaboration with P&G and the HEC Paris Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center, launch the WomenEntrepreneurs4Good, an ambitious initiative designed to inspire and foster female creativity and entrepreneurship across Europe. We focus our efforts to address a critical and at times overlooked issue: the lack of networks that effectively support and mentor women entrepreneurs.

WomenEntrepreneurs4Good is an annual accelerator program, supporting women entrepreneurs with high-potential ideas to develop and bring onto the market new innovative products, services and business models that drive our green transition in alignment with the European Green Deal strategy.

Selected women entrepreneurs receive coaching, mentoring, visibility, and access to an ecosystem of important stakeholders, including investors, international corporates, and other likeminded entrepreneurs.

We call on daring women entrepreneurs to join their innovative ideas, diverse perspectives and strengths to tackle sustainability challenges. We call on governments, companies, civil society organizations to join us in promoting women’s economic empowerment to reinvent and build a more green, resilient and inclusive future.

Let’s engage for impact with #WomenEntrepreneurs4Good!
