Seat Belts On
Do you remember the first time you were on an airplane, or maybe a roller coaster, or maybe even bumper cars? You were instructed to put on your seat belt before the ride began.
Why are these precautions necessary?
Well, you are about to have a new experience (your first time), it will be fast, it will be bumpy, and it will make your belly tickle. The intention is to be sure you enjoy the ride without injury.
Some of you might have decided not to move forward with the experience and some of you pushed through your emotions holding you back and embraced what was to come.
Get on board and enjoy the ride.
After you had your first experience and you decided you liked it, putting your seat belt on was part of the process. The ride continues to be enjoyable, but you’re not so nervous, not so excited, and not so frightened. Over time, although you enjoy the experience, it becomes second nature to get on board.
So, what is my point here?
Personal development, healing and unloading emotional baggage that no longer serves you, and leaning into a high purpose all require finding and putting on your seat belt so you can enjoy the ride.
That’s correct. Unpacking what is behind your pain, excavating your experiences to find purpose, and giving yourself permission to face the dark in order to find meaning is the ultimate ride. It is the ride of your life!
THE EXPERIENCE WILL BE FAST
When unpacking your pain, you discover that it is a process. It is like taking things out of a suitcase. You pull out the first item, see what it is, and determine what its purpose is.
In unpacking, at first you take out the top items. You don’t start digging until you know where you want things to go. You might line items out on the bed, or begin putting them in a drawer, hang a few things up, or maybe you decide to leave it all in the suitcase and remove only what you need.
No matter what your strategy is, the intention is to get this done so you can move on.

Emotional unpacking has the same intention, get it done so you can move on. Before you begin you might be nervous, wondering why in the heck you said yes to this crazy experience in the first place. You realize you are being held back, maybe making decisions that don’t seem to serve you, or you are living a roller coaster life. Something is telling you something has to change so you move forward. Once you have determined how you prefer to unpack your luggage, it becomes easier and faster to do.
Seat belt on – Learning your unpacking process may take experimenting. There may be more than one method that you prefer. You’re on a journey and this trip should be led by a guide who can help you excavate and heal.
As you dig deeper, choices become easier to make and your roadmap moving forward starts to change as you change. It will be easier to unpack that suitcase and changes will come faster and faster. Seat belt on please.
IT WILL BE BUMPY
Excavating your experiences to discover your purpose means learning how to alchemize and change them in order to move forward in your life. We all, at some point, look for purpose and once you begin searching you might be excited, anticipating an adventure is about to begin, and it is.
When you do this for the very first time it can be confusing and difficult to navigate. Sometimes it takes a while for you to feel safe enough to accept the root of your emotional response and the courage to actively change your story. You are changing perspective and stepping out of your emotion, creating a state change to be precise. After all, you are facing an event, maybe a trauma, potentially deep seeded emotion that has a hold on you, and you want to understand this moment without also getting wrapped in that story.
Seat belt on – These bumps can be painful, and it takes practice to learn how to transform your story and yourself with ease and grace. Be sure to have a guide work with you while you discover what the gift is that the events in your life have to offer. You learn how to change perspective, find forgiveness (maybe for yourself), and release any emotional bondage that had been evident in your life. With practice the bumps will smooth out as you become proficient at your own excavation. Seat belt on please.
IT WILL MAKE YOUR BELLY TICKLE
Like any amusement park, there is a center attraction. In life, that is the journey to self-actualization. Those of you ready to embrace the YOU that is SELF give yourself permission to face the dark in order to find meaning. The concept seems so surreal that you might want to back out, being so frightened of what is to come. You might even feel frozen.
But this is the ride of a lifetime, and the thrill is beyond words. Your heart will pump, your belly will tickle, and your breath will be taken away. This journey means you have done the work to heal your past. You have practiced alchemizing the moment in order to change your story and change your perspective. It means you can face the conflicts in life and see them for what they are and what they are not.
Seat belt on – This is tapping into your intuition and knowing it is real. This is feeling into the moment without expectation or judgement. This is becoming so quiet, so grounded, and so truthful that unexplainable experiences are simply embraced, nothing more. In this practice darkness and light no longer have meaning, but simply are the same. You feel your answers, see them, hear them. Experience them. DeJa Vu becomes common place, and your conversations have flavor, color, and meaning.
And yes, be sure you have a guide that can hold you safe while you practice this skill of letting go and finding SELF.
Seat belts on please. Never navigate alone.
