Shit attracts flies; honey attracts bees!

This was a Whack On The Head! for a client during a Mindful Living Coaching. And if you were that client sitting opposite to me, would this title resonate in any way? Read more if it does!

The question is, who are you, really? A piece of shit - in its worst and disgusting form - attracting useless flies, infesting lives around it, destroying?

Or are you that honey attracting bees, pollinating and helping new lives grow?

Who do you attract: drunkards, drug addicts, womanizers, porn addicts, woman-abusers, child molesters? Who visits your home often and for what, and what are your circle made of? Flies that infests, because you are a piece of shit and they manifest from you the microorganisms of destruction and spread it in the schools and hospitals and alleys and parks?

Or do you attract people who are creative, productive, disciplined, regular, organized, structured, driven by goals, moving with a purpose, serving in their own ways, done a charity in last three months, because you are that droplet of honey safely secured between the petals that bees come attracted too, carrying your essence and purpose with them to far and near to those known and unknown, enabling growth?

Am I that piece of shit attracting flies? Am I that drop of honey attracting bees?

In Ayurveda there is a term called "Praj'njaparadha" where you know you are doing something wrong but you are stuck with that wrong. We must sometimes ask "Is it worth dying for" when we find ourselves stuck in such a web of sins in the disguise of enjoyment and pleasure in life, in reality cutting short the length of life and also curtailing the real pleasure of living - of serving, of contributing.

In the relentless pursuit for success, a thing that we often ignore is to pay attention to whether I am moving away or moving towards what I need. Perhaps instead of shutting down the curtains and making the room dim to make it suitable to take the next dope, is there a choice to open the door and walk to the general ward of the hospital nearby, or the orphanage, or the old age home, or the refugee camp, to offer comfort to those in need - and be the bee that helps lives grow?

On her way back home, I gave her a gift, valuable one at that: her own hands – hands with scattered lumps that were subjected to repeated abuse with careful and careless injections for past so many years. She looked at them – her own hands, but received as a valuable gift, and promised "I won’t abuse her again."

That was a moment of joy, and I long to see it lasting when I hear more updates from her in the coming weeks and months!

Post Script: Drug abuse, or any addictions for that matter is only a mistake, but not a sentence for life. To recover from that is scary, but to remain in it is path to self-destruction, and whoever is partnering you in that mission are just useless flies because you are just a piece of shit!
