Traps of symmetry (English version)
"The Devil hides in the details" says the Phrase, and it doesn’t lack reason, when based on detailed analysis we can infer and make decisions from a deep analytical level.
In recent years and fertilized by tremendously varied and enriching experiences, I 've been progressing from those analytical analyses predominant in my work, to predominantly generic analysis that, thanks to that detailed analytical background, works as a spring to generate intuitively and much more efficiently, a process of action and thought of great complexity.
Antonio Damasio's definition of Intuition is totally opportune. It perfectly illustrates the notion that I try to transmit: "intuition is rapid cognition, courtesy of emotions and much previous practice".
These two aspects, Analytical and Generic are not Antagonistic, but Synergetic in their feedback and development as sources of information, therefore it is useless from my perspective to propose dichotomous and monochromatic positions, and by this I mean opinions from those analytical trenches that frequently neglect the "Forest" by concentrating their attention on the "Tree" or better said, in only one "Branch" of it.
A couple of weeks ago a person was telling me about the running technique of one of the sprinters I coach, who noticed flagrant asymmetries in his arms and also in the oscillation of his hips. A few months ago another Coach also pointed out to me an asymmetry during the acceleration phase in the arms of another of the sprinters I prepare. In the majority of cases I have agreed in the observation of the asymmetric phenomenon, but we haven't agreed in the meaning and potential effect of this phenomenon. These kinds of conversations have shown me what I consider "Symmetry Traps" and how in these cases a simple or complicated reasoning, ignores just how complex and/or chaotic human functioning is.
